It is frightening when an abomination is made mainstream in our culture. In many respects, Ellen Degeneres presents a much more deceiving promotion of homosexuality, a reprehensible evil, than do in your face homosexual activists. The lie she presents is that her lifestyle is the same as heterosexual couples. The directly observable evil is not as clear to the naive or culturally detached or interested. As you can see from some posts on this forum, we are getting used to it, and it is not good to get used to a practice that God terms an abomination. Of course, this will end in destruction of our culture. Our nation’s end will be similar to all nations that plunge into degeneracy.

It is a learned sexual fetish that is reinforced by conditioning. It is no different than what the british found of their politician who grew up alone in boarding schools with corporal punishment became adults with assiciations of affection with canning.

All other phychology uses concepts of reinforcement to argue behavioral teaching (ala skinner) except this POLITICAL issue where recreational sex practionoers argue “born that way”. The same argument should be then used with all recreational sex; animal sex, leather fetishists, wife swap clubs, sadism, masochism, and destructive conduct one can think of.

judgment and punishment is God’s business - not mine.

That is just pure happy talk nonsense. We are to judge people's actions and DO every day. Every single law is based on the premise of having to JUDGE. Would you say the same pious sounding but kooky nonsense about child molesters? "Their sin is between God and them. Who am I to say it is wrong..."

she comes across as the class clown who was always desperate for a “look at me” moment.

She was desperate for attention at any and all costs.

she comes across as desperate and needy, but that is just her look at me persona. Even her AMEX commercial is all about her doing weird look at me things.

Ellen is not a “sweet person”, her marketing and selection is to be “homosexual sweet person”. That does not change her to needed special rights.

Actually, if you read the Old Covenant law carefully, only bestiality and male-on-male anal sodomy (among sexual sins) are listed as abhominations.

Both medieval Anglo-Saxon and Greek penitentials penanced lesbian erotic behavior either as mastrubation or as fornication—as sin, but not as sin-unto-death. (Orthodox usage makes a distinction between those sins for which were punished by execution under the Old Covenant, setting the canonical penance as excommunication with communion on the deathbed only, termed sins-unto-death, and other sins.)

we are taught to judge. You are right the “don’t judge” nonsense means there are no choices of right and wrong.

That is just so stupid in the extreme! Why don't you explain to everyone how God designed and created two males for sex. Explain the anatomical fit. Explain the purpose.

Is this the same God that creates children with terminal diseases? birth defects?

It all we are is animals, then sure thing, go ahead, do it till you die, eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die. But if we are more than mere animals, then it matters. We don’t do it just because the monkeys do. And maybe monkeys are quite bright, but I’m writing a post about monkeys, they don’t write posts about us.

why do frogs hump rocks thinking they are female? answer: because they are making a mistake.

Why do people use crack? because they are making a mistake.

This shows the failure of Ellen the jester. She has used her sexual fetish to garner attention and the only issue is her sexual fetish. Instead of discussing republicans on a left leaning performer’s show, we are discussing the recreational sex of a tv personality who had a republican on their show.

IOW the appearances are meaningless except to the couch potato voter who does not use the internet anyways.

Never been able to buy that one. Just as I would not hold one of my children responsible for the acts of the other, why then would our creator visit harm on his innocent creation?

I've found Karma to be a better explanation of these kinds of things, but....that's just what works for me

The Old Covenant law did not directly address lesbianism, though logically it would be just as much of an abomination as homosexuality among males. Paul, however, in Romans Chapter 1 clearly states the evil of lesbianism and attributes the practice to those particularly degenerate cultures.

Look at this way. Let's suppose I commit murder and go to jail. My wife and son are perfectly innocent of the crime, so they are not prosecuted, and they don't go to jail. But because of what I have done, they now have to live with the natural consequences of my action: the shame, the guilt, not having dad in the house, etc.

Original sin, as I believe Thomas Aquinas said, is sin only by analogy. It doesn't mean you or I is to blame for what Adam did. But it does mean we live with the effects of it.

As for why the Creator allowed it, well, He had two choices. 1) create men like robots, without free will and constrained to operate on prior programming. 2) give man the power free will, which necessarily gives man the power to put it to evil use as well. Which some do.

It may give you some comfort to know, though, that God only allows evil to happen in order to bring a greater good out of it, like the soldier that gives up his own life defending freedom for someone else.

Actually, I think the old penitentials I cited got it right.

While all homoeroticism involves a sinful misdirection of natural erotic attraction, and St. Paul is certainly on the mark (how should he not be, being one of the Holy Apostles? in seeing the link with social degeneration), only anal sodomy involves an act which is itself so contrary to nature that the corresponding act between a man and a woman is not a common part of normal foreplay. The divinely given Law also seems to take into account the material health of the people of Israel (cf. some dietary prohibitions) and it is a clear fact of epidemiology that the proscribed act is a major disease vector, while the acts lesbians perform are no more likely to transmit disease than normal heterosexual intercourse.

In Orthodox lands, the only sex acts per se ever made illegal (as opposed to being a matter for confession and penance) were those enumerated as abhominations in the Old Covenant law, with the exception of a different extension of the prohibition on anal sodomy: Russian law during the Tsarist period prohibited heterosexual anal sodomy. (In adultery it is the violation of the marriage covenant that adds a degree of sinfulness to the sin of fornication, not the sex act per se.)

Try your kooky strawman argument somewhere else. There is absolutely NO relationship between two consenting adults engaging in (disgusting) personal behavior and a pervert preying on an innocent child; other than maybe that both actions have some peripheral acquaintance with sex. Get a grip.

OF COURSE we judge peoples actions. Especially when they are against the law, and as in your cited hypothetical, causing harm to a child. I would cheerfully SHOOT a child molester in the head, whether the molester in question is gay OR straight - and that doesn’t call for a moral determination from me. A child molester has broken the law, and in the most egregious manner I can think of. A murderer is a murderer. A thief is a thief. Judging a CRIME/criminal activity is one thing: I fail to see how whom someone sleeps with is any business of mine, nor do I think it should be a crime worthy of time wasted by myself or law enforcement. Judging law-breaking IS a valid action by honest citizens. Judging SINS and the sin component of a crime, OTOH, is God’s business.

I in no way condone homosexuality: it is a sin in my view, and an unhealthy one at that. However, the SIN component of the homosexual act is between the sinner and God, and really is none of my business. And, it certainly doesn’t mean I have to devote every waking moment chastising homos for their personal choices/sins.

I am not “friends” with homosexuals. I do not support their “lifestyle”. However, it really is their business - and not mine, or yours. It really doesn’t effect my daily life at all. God will deal with it in His own time and manner.

NOW, let’s deal with the other issues of homosexuality, namely their attempts to push their perversion as “normal” in the schools and in popular culture, and in their drive to have their unnatural relationships recognized by law. They have NO more fervent opponent than me! I cringe at the thought of two “dads” or “moms” adopting a child. I get violently upset when courts allow a gay lover visitation rights to a child that s/he has no biological connection to. Etc.

Lets keep the debate over homosexuality where it belongs: its effects the fabric of our society. Almighty God can surely handle the “sin” of it all. I’m not equipped to do so and I highly doubt you are either.

Ye that is without sin, cast the first stone.

Wow! There is a reason why most societies, over thousands of years, have not held to the same WARPED, TWISTED, AND CONFUSED THINKING as you subscribe to.

So, What is it that you propose? That we investigate everyone’s bedroom to see who might be having unnatural/immoral sex? How far do you want this to go? Do we have block watchers report on how often you read your Bible or go to a worship service?

Sounds Talibanish to me.

Look, if a queer gets AIDS and on his deathbed repents and accepts Christ, isn’t he saved - doesn’t that fulfill God’s aims? We are all saved by Grace; not by works - even if faith without works is death. I have enough trouble understanding what God wants ME to do - I am not arrogant enough to know His will for everyone else.

We have FAR too many people that want to force their views on the population at large. Don’t be one of them. If you want to outlaw sodomy as a public health hazard, be my guest... just don’t be surprised if I fail to see how someone else’s sodomy is a hazard to me. America is NOT “most societies” that have “over thousands of years” decided that it is the public’s business what two (or more) people do privately.

FRiend, quit obsessing on the Old Covenant’s restrictions and get with Christ’s message of Love, Hope, and Redemption. The gays are gonna do what the gays are gonna do; and it really is not any of your business.

Wow again! Another display of more kooky and utterly confused thinking. Let's abolish all laws against drug use, prostitution, gambling, bestiality, incest, etc. etc. because morons such as yourself claim that:

A) “people are going to do what they are going to do”
and
B) “What adults do by themselves, among themselves, is their own business”.
