Nor can I. For Putin to believe that recent wealth from the only commodity they have in surplus somehow insulates Russia from reprisals is stupid and wrongheaded. They have blown their opportunity to join, in a productive way, the community of civilized nations.

Putin will do whatever he pleases, and nobody will have the spine to stop him.
They'll try to bore him to death with blabber.
It's sickening to me to see how much President Bush looks like Clinton when he holds a presser to shake his finger and speak strong words into the camera... and that's all.
