Pimps, Pedophiles: Welcome to S.F. (City prepares to legalize child prostitution)

A quick reading of the measure that will go before San Francisco voters in November to decriminalize prostitution easily could leave you with the misimpression that the measure is an exercise in fairness that demands that prosecutors go after men who abuse prostitutes and implement policies "to reduce institutional violence and discrimination against prostitutes." A careful reading of the initiative, "Enforcement of Laws Related to Prostitution and Sex Workers," however, shows a measure that shields child prostitution and traffickers of human beings.

"If I had just heard from the proponents, I would probably vote for it myself," said the Rev. Glenda Hope, whose San Francisco Network Ministries helped found the Tenderloin AIDS Resource, in the mistaken belief the measure is meant "to protect women." But as the executive director of SafeHouse, a residential center that helps women get off the streets, Hope knows too much.

Hope knows that the average age of entry into prostitution is 12 to 14. The office of San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, who opposes the initiative, has encountered prostituted children as young as 9 years old.

Yet the San Francisco ballot measure completely ignores the prostitution of children. The measure simply states, "Law enforcement agencies shall not allocate any resources for the investigation and prosecution of prostitutes for prostitution." Astonishingly, there's no exemption that encourages police to enforce the law for minors.

If the measure passes, the city is likely to become an international haven for pimps who peddle girls and boys, and perverts seeking sex with minors.

And if you give a civil answer, I’ll get back when I have time.

Even my liberal sociology prof admitted that legalizing prostitution would not work, that it is not a victimless crime.

I agree no Conservative would promote prostitution.

Also, there are cases where women have been forced or pressured into prostitution ,and evidence shows its damaging effects among those even voluntarily involved.

What is radical homosexualism and how do I support it?

There is no need to go through your posting history and show your support for radical homosexualism.

Radical homosexualism is the false notion that homosexuality is normal, genetic and morally defensible. It is also the intent to portray the numbers of homosexuals as far more than normal and to suggest that they should enjoy special privileges that heterosexuals do not.

However, I ONLY advocate making immorality illegal when it harms people and the entire history of prostitution demonstrates that it is inherently destructive.

Doesn't *every* immoral activity harm people?

Look at gluttony, for example. It leads to disease and early death in the glutton. According to some religious, it also defiles the temple of the soul. Gluttony harms families. They must endure the pain of seeing the glutton's illnesses and the loss of valuable family time because of the glutton's lethargy and early death. Gluttony even harms all of society by increasing health care costs and tax rates for Medicare, Medicaid, etc.

In your opinion, would the regulation or prohibition of gluttony be a valid exercise of government power?

(Assuming it could be done in a practical and effective way)

Called for help? Obviously you are new. It is common to ping others who might be interested in a specific topic. We also have ping lists. I am on several of these lists, including one dealing with art.

Prostitution has NEVER been a "victimless crime" and it is laughable that some would try to portray it as such.

Prostitutes in America come from primarily two sources:
1. Drug addicts or severely abused runaway girls who fall into prostitution because they see no alternatives.
2. Immigrants from Eastern Europe, Asia, South/Central America and Africa who are brought to the US with the promise of jobs only to find out that the "job" is prostitution and they are then confronted with unpayable "debts" that keep them enslaved.

I agree no Conservative would promote prostitution.

Believing something should be legal is not always the same as promoting it.

There are a lot of things most of us would not criminalize even though we don't support them. I'm sure almost no Freeper would support criminalizing "hate speech", but still almost none of us support using the "N" word.

I wouldn’t live in SF for a million dollars. Not 10 million.

You really should be avoiding me, I have “obsessive behavior” and many FReepers don’t want to “hang out” with me . . . or so I’ve been told.

That's news to me. I guess I'm not spending time with the right people. Where is this little clique?

Gluttony harms families.

The family of the restaurant owner does pretty well from it. ;)

LOL! You forgot to add, I beat my dog and I’m in a demonic cult. You mischaracterized me and then you want me banned and rat packed based upon the mischaracterization. Either you don’t understand or worse, you’re intentionally doing it.

Oh, is that what a ping list is. Silly me.

Puhleeze. This guy's ping list consists of people who call the mods when they can't win an argument. I offer the last two threads in which we engaged as evidence. And if you think I'm new to FR, you're searching for a reason to win the day. But your reason is false.

When you don't know something you really shouldn't make it up.
