"We always knew they were under sixteen years old," a group of Chinese students told me yesterday. "We had no idea that there was an age limit for gymnastics in the Olympics. If there really is, then China did break the rules." We were discussing the real possibility that three members of Chinas gold medal winning Olympic gymnastics team did not meet the minimum age requirement of sixteen years old to compete. Chinese students and other friends of mine have said that as late as last week, Chinese state run television had admitted that Yang Yilin, He Kexin, and Jian Yuyuan were under sixteen but that "they should be praised for their skills and determination." My Chinese colleagues tell me that there has been no mention of any age minimum in gymnastics on television in China...

So I take it that their medals will no be stripped?
no=not
“So I take it that their medals will no be stripped?”
Is that no supposed to be now or not?
This is about as good as when Obama told Rick Warren that his greatest moral struggle was deciding how to vote on the Iraq War. Of course, he wasn’t even a member of the Senate at the time.......
At the least, IOC should award duplicate medals to an age-compliant team, and let the host country keep the first set as a courtesy.
I also wonder if the swimming pool for the Olympics is salt water. That will explain all the world records.
Nadia was 14 when she won her “perfect gold”. What’s the big deal?
Current rules
What’s next? “OH! I didn’t know the judges couldn’t be biased against American gymnasts!”
US has some 14 year olds they could have used for higher scores but couldn’t because of the age limit. Apparently, China need not comply.

That would fall under “I can’t believe what I (and millions around the world) just saw”.
The IOC is like the UN...
All they’ll say to China is “Stop! Or we’ll tell you to stop again!”
How can you fall on your knees on a vault and still get a medal?
They cheated, and no one is doing anything about it. That’s why it’s a big deal.

Several other speakers, including Illinois State Sen. Barack Obama and Illinois State Rep. Julie Hamos, also spoke at the rally. Obama told the crowd: "I don't oppose all wars. But I do oppose a dumb war." Obama said if the United States declared war on Iraq, it would "fan the flames" in the Middle East and push more people to join al-Qaida. "The consequences of war are dire. The costs immeasurable," Obama said. "We should not go down that hellish path blindly."
Only in (Communist) China.
