Be careful out there!
I am praying for you and your family, my friend.
It’s certainly not how it was offered.
The subject matter seems to be that
which is quixotic ... utopian .. the
impossible dream .. the impracticable.
I don’t understand the demand for
perfection in any human being. I don’t
know of or actually know a soul who is.
I count blessings.
Don't make me come back here, or next week, again.
Thanks sleuth! So nice to hear from you! Hope all is well.
Just wondering.
Your kids should listen to Obama and keep their tires inflated. Then they wouldn’t go flat.
On that note, my Jeep actually TELLS me when one of my tires is low on air.
Obama.....how did we make it without him?
Speaking of which, I would bet President Lincoln felt pretty “blessed” in finally finding a general who would fight to win instead of posturing near the battle field.
Had President Bush gone through as many generals as Lincoln went through, our congress today would have had a conniption fit over it. Lincoln also suspended Habeas Corpus and threw some newspaper men into jail. Our congress today would have loved that one too.
I remember another President named George, but in this case it was George Washington, who had similar problems. This other George also had a congress that would not and could not fund the war, and states that didn’t want to spend any money either. Only a third of the country supported him and he had to confiscate local farmers food to feed his men. He almost quit a few times because the US Congress was so inept and uncooperative.
It seems little has changed between then and now. It seems to me President Bush is in pretty good company, and our congress remains self-centered egotists full of themselves and more than a few being less than patriotic.
Anyway they made it home to find out that the port is closed and no work for tomorrow but his other job is still on.
Did you miss the part where I said, don’t make me come back here? I either removed it, or left it. The decision is made “on the fly.” And I’m not going back.
Now just a dang minute there!!!!
Reviewing this thread is NEVER a waste. Also, you should spend more than 15 minutes on it!
Seriously, the only protection anyone here needs is protection from personal attacks. I am trying to keep that from happening, and in that, I assume we share a common goal. Diverse opinions on any thread is not only welcome, but expected.
P.S. I checked for ya and ya done good!!!
Well, the Moderator seems like a nice enough fellow.
What a load! {And please be assured that I'm referring to the above cited statement of yours, not you personally.}
What a FANTASTIC answer! Russia's demographics are NOT healthy. Avg. lifespan = 50-somethng; fertility rate = WAAY below the population replacement rate; rampant alcoholism; chief cause of death = NOT some sort of disease. but BLUNT-FORCE TRAUMA. Source: there is a professional demographer at AEI, by the name of Nick Eberstadt, who wrote about this stuff a couple years ago. Need to supply a link to Nick's report.
I agree with you, but please don’t tell anyone.
It was a favourite for afternoon tea on a Sunday in our house. We used to have a roast dinner lunch time and then tea at about half 5 which would be something savoury such light salad or cheese and beetroot or sandwiches followed by scones, jam and cream and a selection of cakes.
Here is a photograph of a packet of them which shows how they should look after cutting which I found on the net.
The recipe is as follows:-
My cookery book gives measures in US cups etc and I assume this is most familiar form of measuring ingredients for you so I have mentioned that first with oz in brackets in case you prefer to actual weigh your ingreidients.
2 Tablespoon plum or raspberry jam (any red jam will do it is more for presentation than anything else.
2 egg whites
7/8 cup ground almonds 4oz
1 cup caster (fine granulated) sugar 8oz
Few drops almond essence (optional - I do not use)
3/8 cup flaked almonds 2 oz
Preheat oven to 180C 350F
On a floured board roll out the shortcrust (pie crust) dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Lay it on an oblong greased baking (cookie) sheet.
Melt and stir the jam and spread it evenly over th dough
Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold in the ground almonds, sugar and almond essence. Mix to a smooth consistency
Spread an even layer of the almond mixture over the dough
Scatter the top with flaked almonds and bake for 20 - 25 minutes. Allow to cool and cut into fingers before serving
I cannot even imagine a truly liberal America, well let’s say socialist America or much worse. I’ve got a few years to go, plus, so I’ll fight the good fight - but, it’s not looking good out there as the inmates seem to be taking over.
Dear Lord I don’t think I could handle this recipe.
That pic above is home-made?
This looks like something I’d like. I love almonds and this dessert doesn’t look too awful sweet and cloying.
I think I should have to purchase it however as pie crusts and such do not reflect well upon my cooking skills.
