One of my Air Force buddies and I used to sing that song. We couldn’t play it when we visited his home, however, because his otherwise pleasant and even-tempered mom referred to Coe as “that name-dropping bastard.”

David had never really felt accepted.

I was fairly friendly with Waylon Jennings in the mid to late 90s since I was temporarily engaged to his Girl Friday/Office Manager...before Waylon moved to Phoenix with Jesse.

Coe would come by a lot just checking on Waylum at the Music Row Victorian Mansion that doubled as Waylum’s office and center of touring and merchandising.

a big imposing fellow but he adored Waylon....hell, they all did 'cept June Carter...ol Waymore did not suffer fools gladly

my little boys turn up the CD player in my F250 and open the windows and sunroof to hoot and holler when Coe is on ...my wife and daughters cringe..lol
