Russians are confident their nation is back

In a poll conducted by the respected Levada Center, 53 percent of Russians said they supported sending troops into Georgia; 36 percent did not. But 70 percent said they believe South Ossetia should become part of Russia or win independence. But even many of those who said they worry that entering Georgia will ultimately hurt Russia added that they believed Russia had every right to do so.

Putin seeks to reestablish it's lost power and prestige, and has used a complex situation to his advantage. This goes with the thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2062609/posts?q=1&;page=1

What Winston Churchill said about Russia years ago is still true today.

Not as good as in the Soviet days. I am guessing the actual numbers are reversed. Not too many Russian are willing to go against Tsar Putin.

“I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest.”

I doubt anyone who’s been paying attention to Russia thinks that Russians were in the same mood that they were in back in ‘89 or ‘91, but how often do they conduct polls like this in Russia?

Rasputin daily tracking poll says that same 36% are packing their warmest clothes for their new adventure in Siberia .

One Soviet comrade was driving through a mountainous road! A Georgian military policeman stops him and says: -Hey, you were driving fast, I need you to write a self-explanatory note! The Soviet replies-what do you mean by the note? Georgian replies: Well you have to write a note and in Georgian language! The Soviet surprisingly looks at the policeman and says: I do not know Georgian language, for I cannot write that note! Policeman insisted: Well write the way you know then! The Soviet thought for a moment and then took out a dollar bill and put it in his driver’s license and gave it to the policeman! When a Georgian policeman opened the documents, he smiled and happily replied: And you were saying that you don’t know Georgian! You have already written half of your explanatory note!

This is a good example of the Leftists inspired US polls. When the media is of one mind or controlled by the state, all the people hear is what the state wants them to hear. Then polls are conducted to assure the correct message was received. If not, more propaganda is applied and more polls are taken, until, voila, the public agrees with the state. Then those polls are used to reinforce the message.

The difference is there is no vocal homegrown Hate Russia movement masquerading as peaceniks, unlike in America.
