Little South Korea in 5th, beating the snot out of Germany, England, Italy, Japan, France, Spain, etc? To me, that's the hidden story of these Olympics. They were 9th in '04 with 30 (9/12/9), and 12th in 2000 with 28 (8/10/10).

They're also coming on in the Winter Olympics. In the '98 Winter Games, they were 14th in "their" Games (Nagano) with 6 (3/1/2), in '02 they were 15th with 4 (2/2/0), and by '06 they were up to 7th with 11 (6/3/2).

Nice... I just noticed that Michael Phleps has more gold medals than any NATION, including the US. Without Phelps, the US has 20 total medals (4/6/10), and the Aussies have 15 (5/4/6). Phelps is in third in total medals with 6, ahead of China's 5 (1/3/1), France's 4 (1/1/2), and Japan's 3 (2/0/1)
