“So, at what point does McCain actually start earning our votes?”
He doesn’t. He clearly believes that he doesn’t need to earn conservative votes. And I think he’s probably right. Most “conservatives” will vote for anyone so long as they have a Republican label behind their name.
“I’m afraid of an Obama presidency.”
And that shows just how successful the perpetual strategy of the GOP is. It doesn’t change from election to election. Vote for our candidate because _____ is so horrible!
Yes, Sen. Obama would be a rotten President. But Sen. McCain wouldn’t be all that much better in reality.
“I’m going to stop describing myself as “pro-life” and start describing myself as pro-creation. My descendants and the myriad of other pro-creators will finally outnumber the reprobate evil doers and we will overthrow the murderous child-sacrificing regime of abortion.”
Wow. I’ve been arguing for some time that infanticide will eventually become illegal in the U.S. About 2 months after the last clinic closes due to lack of business.
Children tend to take on the attitudes and perspectives of their parents. Pro-creation parents spawn pro-creation children. Anti-life parents would spawn anti-life children, but the horrible reality is they’re aborting and contracepting their would-be children out of existence.
Fast forward a generation or two where the pro-creation folks have been fruitful and multiplied, and the anti-life folks have perhaps allowed one trophy baby to live here and there and you can see where this all changes. Not because of any great moral conversion, but because of math.
“Baloney. If they go to a Catholic church and vote for Kennedy or Clinton they are still Catholics. Just because YOU don’t call them that doesn’t mean they don’t”
Yeah, just like walking into a garage makes me a mechanic!!
You know nothing about Catholics!!!

Oh, okay. I went to Catholic schools for twelve years but you would know better.
I mistyped that statement. It should have read: “Baloney. If they go to a Catholic church and vote for Kennedy or Clinton they think they are still Catholics.”
No need for you to get so combative.

I'm afraid that is far from a correct assumption. Obama is an extremist. From all we have learned through his associations with Wright, Rezko, Ayers, Khalidi, and Pfleger, it is clear that Obama makes McCain look like a conservative.
The most important selection a President could make is not the Supreme Court, it is the Vice President.
As for trying to get Catholic support - who are the strong pro-life Catholics on McCain’s veep short list?
he is not going to get one extra vote from the libs and he is making it harder and harder for conservatives to vote for him.
If McCain decided to run with a person like Tom Ridge, he is showing himself to be not only morally feeble, but also an imbecile.
He must realize that Catholics and other religious conservatives are clinging to him by only the slenderest of threads already, and mostly because we Obamanate the other candidate. If he pulls a stunt like choosing a 'Bort for VP, he will lose us all, AND he will lose the election.
I hope some Republican operatves are reading this, and realize that this is no joke. Ifr McCain fumbles this one, he's political roadkill. It's as simple as that.
so then you know how I feel when people call cafeteria catholics, Catholics. NO ONE that supports abortion in any way is a real Catholic is my point
and you sir started the combat with your big Baloney

She doesn’t have a lot of name recognition, but Sarah Palin would be my first choice.
Why did you take it personally?

I hope they're reading it as well. If McCain selects a pro-choice running mate, it will be one of the biggest blunders in campaign history.
Actually, I don't. I choose not to let that kind of stuff bother me.
and you sir started the combat with your big Baloney
Yes, I did. I apologize. I could have easily disagreed with you without saying that.
God bless and have a wonderful day.
“Obama is an extremist.”
Yes. And he is perceived as such. Which will limit his effectiveness if he is elected.
The problem with the soft socialism of Sen. McCain is that while his objectives are not quite so extreme as those of his opponent, he is far more likely to achieve them if he is elected. In my view, the end result is going to be about the same regardless of which of the two is elected.
do you plan to vote?
I do.
