Fay hit Florida once and lingered because of the strong front to the north did not permit movement in that direction.

This “making landfall” multiple times is total BS.

"If you get the chance, watch the documentary, The Little Zoo That Could . It is unbelieveable the effort these people made to save the animals that were in a zoo on the east side of Mobile Bay. They were clobbered by hurricane Ivan, Dennis and Katrina. Excellent, excellent heartwarming stories."

Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is very near and dear to my family's heart. Our girls have gone to Zoo Camp there for years as campers and then counselors. Exotic animals too old or imperfect (in at least one case, abused) for largers zoos find a home there.

Thanks for mentioning 'The Little Zoo That Could'. :)

LOL, I was thinking more along the lines that Fay came and never left. That said:

Hey Rooters, if you extrapolate on out, Fay is actually heading for the west coast, but don't bother with a headline that reports all the cities and towns in between.

Just checking in from Fairhope (a little south and east of downtown). :)

Northern breeze and overcast here. Haven't talked to my mom in Gulf Shores yet today, but looking at the radar looks sunny there.

Sorry. That is not sensational enough and doesn't scare NO.

Hey, have y'all seen the east Pacific storms lately? Tropical Storm 11-e (11-e? what's up with that?) and Invest 97 are almost right on top of each other.

LOL--not even close.

There were 15 Katrina threads, with a total of about 50,000 posts, and 2 million hits. Threads 10-15 averaged 4700 posts per thread.

Hurricane Rita threads totaled just over 20,000 posts.

AT 100 PM CDT...1800Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM FAY WAS ESTIMATED BY RADAR AND SURFACE OBSERVATIONS IN THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE NEAR LATITUDE 30.5 NORTH...LONGITUDE 85.9 WEST OR ABOUT 75 MILES...125 KM...EAST OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA.

I see a lot more north in the last two observations. It will be interesting to see the 5 PM track adjustment.

The roads in my sub-division are dry again! The pond behind my home is slowly returning to Pre-Fay levels so we did not have to leave as we feared around 2pm yesterday(Friday)...The waters where nipping almost halfway up the driveway...Whew we were about 30 mins. from leaving for safer and dryer ground, a very close call indeed...worst weather we had seen in the 19 years and counting at this place...the ground will be very wet for awhile so we are hoping for no more tropical systems in our area for forever(if possible)..

Thanks. I'm hoping for northern movement.

Sunny and gusting winds presently.

There's a nasty line of t-storms right down the center of Fla from Lake O all the way up to the border. All moving east.

Sorry blam, but the radar loop has westerly motion now. Fay is still hanging her butt out over the water too.

Great news! I am glad you will not have to leave. We are having storms right now N. of Orlando and it looks like they are streaming sraight up the center of the state. Thunder, lightning and heavy downpours right now.

Ouch, hope it finally stops where you are soon enough, Fay is one obnoxious tourist...

Thanks. Regardless. I'm still going to my friend's house for some poker tonight.
