A few APCs and a couple of hundred soldiers a few miles from the US Secretary of State means that Russia is trying to goad the US into a strike, in order to justify a Russian attack on the Ukraine or Poland or some other nation not full of drooling slaves.

I’m with you. I told my husband this morning it seems with all the talk of nuking Poland and marching further and faster into Georgia that Russia is dancing around waving it’s finger at us.

I doubt they are leaving...I suspect they are moving on to the next country soon.

They’re definitely daring us. This either means they’re confident we won’t respond, simply on principle, or that they’re confident that they have superior power. Basically, I think they’re letting us know that they wouldn’t hesitate to nuke, say, Poland if we resist them now.

Personally, I think we should use this moment to hit Iran. It will throw the Russians off guard and, in any case, this whole thing is really about Russia wanting to get control of the world’s oil, so that would really get them where it hurts.

If they get away with this, and so far they have, you can bet the farm that there will be another, and another, and another.

Criticism does not bother them. All they understand is force.

Not only that but you can look for movement in Iran and things will pick up in South and Central America.

They went after our friends to get to us, same for us going after their friend to get to them.

The world in their utter state of denial will of course make us out to be aggressors just like they are making Georgia out to be the aggressors in this case.

If they nuke Poland, Russia will be eradicated. Poland is NATO member and we today signed a treaty that assures Poland our military backing. Georgia had neither (not at least due to the Europeans delaying and hindering their NATO negotiations) and was thus more or less open pray. I’m very anxious of Russia’s move towards Armenia, Azerbaijan. There has to be a point, when we will start blasting them away all the way to Moscow.

Vlad is trying to drag us into a conflict. Maybe to throw us off of hitting iran. Could also be that if we do get into a shooting match with Russia, the bad guys make their moves. Iran, Korea, China et al. One gets the feeling we are being set up.

The Russians now control a route through the mountains, through which they can send support convoys through Georgia and Armenia to the Iranian border if it looks like we are getting ready to hit Iran (After what happened to Georgia, is Armenia going to deny Russia passage through their county?)

The Russians really need to keep in mind our rather large air base in Incirlik, Turkey.

It's about 5 hours flight time IIRC.

Nah but everyone around Russia is probably arms shopping right now.

I agree, russia is headed for the iranian border to hook up with iran. Maybe this would be a good time for israel to hit iran...or maybe russia would just use that as an excuse to move forward to the iranian border. Either way, i believe control of most of the world’s oil supply is their goal.

“If they nuke Poland, Russia will be eradicated.”

Well Earth; it's been nice knowing you.
If they nuke Poland, madness will rule. This is not a little piddling country like Iran with a handful of nukes.

A nuclear attack on Poland will bring awful consequences for Europe and beyond.

This is a good example why we have our nuclear arsenal. I can't believe the Russians would be stupid enough to escalate this much further.

The other possibility is that all of this was staged to distract us from Iran (which has been conspicuously silent).

MAD has one serious flaw. It’s a bluff game. So long as your opponent merely thinks he can win, you’ve already lost.

I've been thinking about iran too. I think Russia's playing chess with us. They might use our reaction to the incursion into Georgia against us if we end up bombing iran. IF we bomb iran, Russia might be help them out similarly or more. Just that thought might be enough to stop any military action we might be thinking about in Georgia. So are they two moves ahead of us or three? Just a thought.Add this to your thoughts and they made two moves at once.
