John Bolton: "After Russia's invasion of Georgia, what now for the West?"
Telegraph.co.uk ^ | 15 Aug 08 | John R. Bolton

Russia’s invasion across an internationally recognised border, its thrashing of the Georgian military, and its smug satisfaction in humbling one of its former fiefdoms represents only the visible damage.

As bad as the bloodying of Georgia is, the broader consequences are worse. The United States fiddled while Georgia burned, not even reaching the right rhetorical level in its public statements until three days after the Russian invasion began, and not, at least to date, matching its rhetoric with anything even approximating decisive action. This pattern is the very definition of a paper tiger. Sending Secretary of State Condeleezza Rice to Tbilisi is touching, but hardly reassuring; dispatching humanitarian assistance is nothing more than we would have done if Georgia had been hit by a natural rather than a man-made disaster.

The US has indeed fiddled while Georgia burned (and still burns). Well-said, Mr. Ambassador!

I pray that Bolton will be our next SecState. He fits right into the foreign policy approach of McCain. Russia is the Empire of Evil. The haughty bear didn’t die when the Soviet Union dissolved, it merely was sleeping...

I believe the agreement w/ Poland to install an anti-missile defense system has gotten their attention.

I love Bolton because the left just hates him.

Yes, one of their top generals has commented that if they proceed with the install, Poland is inviting a potentially nuclear attack.

In our defense, I will say that the conflict between Georgia and these breakaway “states” has been going on for more than 10 years, and has occasionally heated up.

However, the Russians did say, after our recognition of Kosovo, that this would legitimize S. Ossetia.

We should have been listening better. The Muzzies boast and threaten, but it’s mostly just hot air; the Russians, on the other hand, mean it. We’ve adapted our fighting and our intelligence to Muzzie madness.

We reacted a little late, but maybe we’ve learned something. And it does sound as if we are not going to let them get away with it. Rice sounded quite PO’ed and very firm in her statement today. “They have to leave immediately....”

Poland is inviting a potentially nuclear attack.

Then St.Petersburg, Moscow, Sochi, Wolgograd, Vladivostok, Samara etc. and every Russian military site will be eradicated from the face of the earth by our ICBM.

We need Bolton in an important, meaningful position,in Washington,DC ... for sure

“[W]hen People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.” —Samuel Adams

We need moral, wise leaders, and they are few indeed.

Notice how Russia and Iran are inching closer together? Probably won’t be long before they share a mutual boundary.

If Russia and Iran were any closer, they’d be Siamese Twins.

Russia is going to do what Russia wants to do and the U.S. will stand by and let them. Any threatening words to Russia will carry no backing...basically writing a check we will not and cannot cash.

While our military is strong beyond compare, and we have the finest soldiers in the world, our political leaders have lost their moral compass, and their will.

The West is ripe for being communized. The leaders and fourth estate will hail the onset of communism as the best thing ever to happen to the “working person”.

I am very concerned about the world my children will inherit.

What a damn shame our illustrious President couldn’t have found the spine to either keep Bolton on as U.N. Ambassador, or to send him over to the State Department to clean out that den of disgusting appeasers and Communist and/or Islamic suck-ups.

There is NO possibility that we would do such a thing. ZERO.

The Russian "near abroad" states will remain independent (except Belarus), but they are on their own, and had better get used to it.

After reading Bolton’s statement I have reversed the names in my tagline. Thanks for posting the words of this great American.
