LaHaye and Jenkins made their millions by wrestling the Holy Scripture into fables. They are not a reliable source of what the Bible says. Some people are too lazy to read the Bible itself so they rely on a pastor/priest to read and “explain” it to them.

Which reminds me. My ex-pastor, and best friends, latest book nails this. I just finished it last week. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who attends a church. It is called “and no religion too - Thoughts on the spectator church”.
I was music director in a church he pastored and we used to (and still do when I visit him in Kentucky) have conversations regarding the role and purpose of what we call “church” (not to mention music in church). The book really shakes your paradigms. Even mine, and I had already talked to him about this stuff!
It is also hilarious in places. He really is an amazing story teller.
