A top Russian general said Friday that Poland's agreement to accept a US missile defense battery exposes the country to attack, pointing out that Russian military doctrine permits the use of nuclear weapons in such a situation, the Interfax news agency reported. *** Interfax said he added, in clear reference to the agreement, that Russia's military doctrine sanctions the use of nuclear weapons "against the allies of countries having nuclear weapons if they in some way help them." Nogovitsyn said that would include elements of strategic deterrence systems, according to Interfax.

“...Russias missiles in Cuba were offensive nuclear missiles where Poland will have defensive missiles...’
Yeah, I missed that distinction entirely.

We are supplying a missile shield to protect against Iranian (and other rogue nations) missiles. Is there any question that Russia is now a rogue nation?

Are you suggesting some sort of moral equivalency here? Perhaps you should be on the democraticundergroud website; you are thinking like they do.
Russia has already proven to the world that they have expansionist intentions; they just invaded the sovereign nation of Georgia over the flimsiest of excuses. They are not interested in peace, they are interested in rebuilding the old Soviet Empire.
The missile system we are building in Poland is designed to defend Poland from a missile attack. It has no offensive capabilities and therefore poses no threat to any peaceful actions of the Russian government. Their reaction suggests that they are more interested in reasserting control over Poland.
There is no moral equivalency between them and us.

Their reaction suggests that they are more interested in reasserting control over Poland. Their reaction portrays them as lunatics. About as trustworthy with nuclear weapons as Iran. To tell Poland that it will be annihilated if it does not act as a Russian Protectorate and bow to Russia's Decrees, is not something a modern civilized society does. It is however something the Mongols used to do quite regularly. Later.

Yeah right. I don’t have enough profanity in my vocabulary to be able to communicate in a way those folks would be able to understand me.

" Proof that Poland *needs* Bushs missile defenses. "
Obama said that we don't need missile defense systems, bur rather spend the money on wasteful social programs.

" Mother Russia still holds considerable influence over Cuba. I wonder if we should warn them that any attempt to assist the Cubans militarily would result in nuclear retaliation. If were going to have another cold war with these commies, lets do it right and reassert the Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) Doctrine. I never trusted them anyway. "
Think about all the B-52 bombers that had to be crushed up and scraped because of the disarmament accords, and all the nuclear missiles we had to scrap.

I just heard a radio talk show host jokingly taking about the new conspiracy theory....
He is saying that there are some left wing wackos now saying that this whole thing ( Russia attacking Georgia ) was planned by Dick Chenney so Obama won't win the election.

Since oil is heading to $110/bbl, I figure we take care of Iran first. We need to give Israel the green light and wait for Iran to make their move. Hopefully they’ll give us the opening to eliminate not only the nuclear facilities but also Iran’s navy, air force and every missile launcher we can find. I figure in less than a week Iran, will be a different story. With no air force or navy, Iran will be a dead issue for some time.
Think of it as a show and tell for Russia. With Patriots in Poland, wouldn’t that give us a military presence? Attack Poland and it’s as good as attacking us.
Long range we need to get an efficient electric car into mass production as fast as possible. Get the nuclear power plants built to supply the electric power. Aim for decreasing gasoline demand by 50%. That should drive the price of oil down to the point that Russia and its ilk won’t have massive capital surpluses. Bankrupting them worked before. It will work again.

Really? You think that having OFFENSIVE nuclear missiles is the same as having anti-missile defenses?

This is bluster. The Russians aren’t going to push east as they’d encounter too much resistance, also, they’ve got Europoe already under their thumb for an energy viewpoint. South is now the path of least resistance, possibly through Armenia or Azerbaijan into Iran. That has a greater potential of economic disruption with less cost. Russia cannot take the west on militarily, but by further consolidation of oil and gas reserves they can slowly squeeze the west and Europe in particular.
Putin is furious, he may allow his emotions now to get the better of hom and overplay his hand. But I do believe now south is the direction they move.

Excuse me, I meant push west not east.
