WASHINGTON, Aug 14, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/
Riki Ellison, President of the Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance ( www.missiledefenseadvocacy.org), issued the following statements about the situation in Europe concerning Russia, Poland and the Republic of Georgia. "Over the last few days Russia has fired over two dozen SS-21 Ballistic Short Range Missiles into the country of Georgia, integrating ballistic missile strikes with their conventional military forces. The SS-21 is a road mobile, solid fuel, single stage ballistic missile, which is maneuverable in flight and carries a high-explosive warhead weighing up to 1060lbs. with 150 meter accuracy. It has a range of 43 miles. These missiles have been used by the Russians tactically for psychological and military targets as the Georgians do not have the capability to defend against or defeat ballistic missiles.

No, but I think they better make sure that she isn’t harmed while traveling there.
Just wow!
My take on Russians is that they don’t treat women or African-descended people with the same respect that we do here.
Perhaps they’ll learn better from Condi if they didn’t learn better with Powell in the first Gulf War.
Just in case, though, we’ve sent Gates.
I wonder if this is what ticked Bush off today at CIA...?
It is not as though they could launched one and not have it detected. I wonder how strong a message we gave the Russkies.
Need to remember that Condi Rice was one of the top Ruski experts long before SOS. Knows all their BS. Betcha she can give ‘em a hard looks that go right to their cold hearts.
Would love to see a Squad of Warthogs lining up on that 100 tank convoy and seeing how fast they could run just like their sadam buddies.
Not to minimize the threat to the Georgian people, but Russia launching SS-21’s is for the benefit of the Russian press.
This is a country that can't even build a washing machine that lasts longer than a month. Their “car” is a Fiat clone.
They are a dying culture, and Putin needs his own little war to distract the folks at home from their own staggering unemployment, criminalized economy, ever-decreasing life expectancy, rampant alcohol/drug abuse, declining Russian population, and a host of other problems at home that he hasn't even made a dent in (in almost a decade).
But that's OK, keep sending SS-21’s and whatever else you got, Vlad. We love the opportunity to ECM ‘em so we can knock ‘em out of the sky when we need to. Can you say "Pull!"?
This is how I see it. Five area presidents, several foreign dignitaries and the Georgian president all together in the capital.
Western mindset - They wouldn’t dare!
Russian mindset - A target rich environment. Thank you!
This will end in evacuations. Hopefully of live bodies.
Aren’t “ballistic missile” and “maneuverable in flight” generally mutually exclusive by definition?
I'm sure she is an expert but I strongly doubt she frightens them. The West has lost memory of the darker, more primal side of human nature. This is about lust, greed, power, submission, conquest and all those other urges that lie below the surface. Warlords don't care about popularity contests and respecting women.
Good question.
There, that's better.
Russian hardware...:)
Perhaps when the Russian people have had enough we will see them dragged out into the street and hanged...
