Russia defends control over Georgian enclaves (Russia lies and bullies way into Georgia Proper!)

President Dmitri Medvedev of Russia said Thursday that Russia would act as an international guarantor of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, the two pro-Russian enclaves at the center of the crisis that have long desired separation from Georgia.

As Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice headed to the region for discussions on the crisis and to show support for President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia, the Russian position seemed to be a direct challenge to President George W. Bush, who had said the day before that he "insists that the sovereign and territorial integrity of Georgia be respected."

In Georgia, meanwhile, Russian forces briefly allowed the Georgian police to return to the city of Gori on Thursday morning as the Russian troops appeared to be preparing to pull out. But joint patrols were canceled three hours later, and the city returned to Russian control. In Poti, a Black Sea port further west, Russian tanks patrolled the city, a sign that Russian forces remained in control of key parts of Georgian territory.

On a day the White House evoked emotional memories of the Cold War, a senior Pentagon official said Wednesday that the relief effort was intended “to show to Russia that we can come to the aid of a European ally, and that we can do it at will, whenever and wherever we want.”

Oh, Putin’s not gonna like that. The kleptocrats in the Kremlin are all about bluster, even though it’s not an official statement the message is pretty clear.

Interesting how all media coverage centers on the behavior of Georgia's President and military, implying the victim was asking for it.

On CNN, while going thru their pics of dead civilians, burned houses, etc.....they were VERY careful to insist that these pis were just propaganda from Georgia.

Too bad the MSM refuses to give the same context in reporting on Israel and the Pals. Or the USA in Iraq and Afghanistan. And even Lebanon and Hezbollah.

Stunning coverage, just stunning.

This way, if Bush steps in and something happens, they can paint him as the warmonger.

We need to stop worrying what MSM thinks. They know that over-the-top treasonous behavior is how to get the attention they crave. Instead, prosecute a bunch.
