He'd been a Clinton super-delegate, but endorsed Obama after she suspended her campaign. The shooter had apparently lost his job at a local Target store; had no apparent connection to Gwatney, so right now it looks like a political act.

From Fox16.com

Johnson was also involved in an incident early Wednesday morning at Target in Conway. A Target employee tells us Johnson worked there and was fired earlier Wednesday morning. According to a Conway Police report, a Target manager informed police that Johnson wrote some graffiti on a wall inside the store on 501 Elsinger Blvd. The manager stated Johnson was no longer an employee at Target and was not allowed access to the property.

I don’t understand how this makes it a political act. He apparently had threatened an official of the nearby American Baptist Union just before shooting Gwatney. I think he was probably a paranoid schizophrenic who became violent when he was fired that morning and wanted to get a high-profile target in order to express his anger.

Someone on another FR thread found an account of a person of the same name who had been in a work-related accident some years ago which resulted in severe head injuries, among other things. I wonder if this was the same man.
