Schaffer should have been in the Senate all along, instead of Tonto, but the dummies in the Colorado GOP just had to try to get Pete Coors — who has tons of dough but the political skills of a gerbil — elected instead. So we got Tonto. Mark Udall is as far-left-pro-tax as you can get without falling off the planet, and his heart beats as one with Al Gore on the global warming BS. Ye Gads.

Bill Owens splitting the party over Ref C/D and over the Senate race really hurt us bad.

Bob Schaffer and all the other Republican candidates for U.S. House and Senate should be on the floor of the US House with the non-vacationing Republican House members.

That would take out a number of Democrat incumbents, I'm guessing.

The US house members are still there.

I'm aware of that.

What I'm suggesting is that the Republican candidates (the wannabes, not the real deal) should be showing up at the Capitol to stand with their prospective brothers and sisters.

They could then ask the Democrat incumbents where the heck they are...

Think of the free advertising back in the home district.

Yes I agree. Have suggested as much myself. :-) No disagreement there. I think that RNC should fly all the Senate candidates in for a big Press event on Energy with their House counterparts. I’d even have a portable oil rig wheeled up to help add to the fun. We could have a big event if we had some organizers. Libs do it all the time.

Have there been many posts about the idea? I'm thinking that Freepers could get in touch with their individual Congressional candidates.

The Demmie incumbents would NO defense against it - probably worth double-digit vote percentage swings in some districts.

Yeah this is something that can be capitalized on. They still aren’t doing enough on this. The House is doing great but the National party needs more coordination. That gang of 10 was an embarrassment. We have some very conservative senators not just off the plantation but on another planet somewhere on this issue.

Amused, if someone, even a candidate for Congress, shows up at the Capitol and tries to go onto the House floor, they will be arrested. Ditto for the Senate. The only people allowed on the floor of either chamber are members and staff (and former members, as a courtesy). Where have you been the previous seven years? Security is very tight on Capitol Hill, and for a pretty good reason. Standing outside and politicking would be OK, but inside, no way.

"To give visitors a better view, Republicans have opened the chamber floor to the public, which normally is restricted to the balcony."
