“The bloggers had been discussing violence against Somali Christians, and Dirie apparently was taking the side of the Somali Muslims.”
LittleGreenFootballs has received death threats in the past (from someone on the Reuters server if I recall).
Very strange case. I’d sure like more info about who this guy was and why he might have been here.
Saleman Abdirahman Dirie?
Danish, catholic right?
SJS or something larger and more conspiratorial?
I don't see how knowing that it was a big heaping bunch of rat poison alleviates such concerns. A dumb Jihadie is still a Jihadie.
It sounds like being Muslim appeasers didn’t stop the Democrats from being targeted by a Muslim murderer.
Yet the guy died before striking.
Is this proof God has a sense of irony?
"The chemical in a jar next to a man found dead this week in a downtown hotel was sodium cyanide, Denver police said this morning.
Sodium cyanide is readily commercially available and is commonly found in rat poisoning and used to extract gold and other precious metals in mining.
The chemical's identification should allay fears that the man's death was part of a larger terrorist plot linked to the upcoming Democratic National Convention.
"It's an isolated incident," said Denver police Detective John White.

Sounds like a set up to me. Powder all around the room?
Could be criminal not terrorist.
Yep. This report is so sketchy, we just don't know until more info is released. I haven't heard cyanide mentioned in the last few years as a material terrorists might use.
OTOH, the Denver Water Board closed down access to the dam road at Dillon Reservoir, the main water source for Denver, on unspecified security concerns. I'd chalked it up to caution because of the DNC, but maybe they had a more specific threat.
Read that last line again- nobody actually was quoted as saying it was not related to terrorism, just that they did not say it was. Given that it’s an active investigation I doubt they’d be saying much at all.
Interesting. If it was targeted, the good news is that a pound of cyanide would be too dilute to have an effect. In a typical reservoir it would take hundreds of pounds to have any noticeable effect.

Here one finds three consecutive entries by Dirie:

BTW, there were only 7 virgins awaiting me after martyrdom, and they were NOT women. Bummer.

The guy is mocking in tone. Hardly sounds like a terrorist.
MSM, of course, sees fit to only refer to the "Kill" entry.

If your tap water or bath water starts smelling like almonds, consider doing something else...
Sounds like appeasing doesn’t prevent some evil elements from wanting to kill large numbers of people. So, democrats are going to have the same ones they want to appease come back and haunt them, in an effort to force them to bend over and appease them once more.
Fortunately, I figured out at a young age there is one way to relieve the pressures of life (a guaranteed successful way).
Go bluegill fishing. These little evolutionary genuises can outlive any threat!!!!
They also outproduce, outmanuever, outsmart any threat (they’ll eat anything, even those higher on the food chain, and win every time)!!!
Now, the humble bluegill may be key to fighting the War On Terror. I believe it!!! I wrote this (below) and it explains partially why I respect this creature so much. I hope Denver has employed this creature to protect the ignorant masses that will gather there for the convention. And I hope the “enlightened” animal worshipers among them will learn all creatures enjoy a place, some more than others (grin).
Give me a popping bug on the end of a flyrod, and a bluegill to challenge it, and I am in heaven. I respect all fish, but this one is special.
BLUEGILLS AND WATER QUALITY
According to a March 2007 article in Science Daily, the aggressive and tasty bluegill has been recruited to fight the War on Terror.
Anyone who has ever used a popping bug to tempt a bluegill from its lair knows these small, but aggressive creatures stand out as an example of Darwins Theory of Evolution, of the strongest and fittest.
According to the article, a U.S. Army program called “IAC 1090 intelligent Aquatic BioMonitoring System,” uses bluegills to detect toxins in water supplies in New York, San Francisco, and Washington.
Changes in the environment cause the fishes’ behavior and breathing patterns to change. Electrodes are placed inside the tanks that contain the fish and water from a nearby water supply, and they set off an alarm if conditions inside the tank change.
The testing system was developed at the U.S. Army Center for Environmental Health Research in Fort Detrick, Md., and has successfully detected contaminants that entered public water supplies through agricultural spills.
According to the article the biomonitoring system resembles a luggage trunk outfitted with cables and tubes, and hooked up to a monitor. Eight juvenile bluegills swim in a row of solitary compartments, submerged in piped-in water and separated from the others by a pane of frosted glass. Electrodes attached to each compartment convey data about the fish’s movements and breathing patterns to a computer. When the fish use muscles to breathe, the action sends a low-level electrical pulse through the water that can be detected by the electrodes.
Fish cough by flexing their gills to get rid of unwanted particles, like grains of sand, from their breathing passages. If the fish shows signs of distress in response to something in the water by coughing or increased activity, the system automatically trips an alarm, takes samples, and summons authorities by email and pager so that they can investigate whether there is a threat to humans. The cost of the system is between $45,000 and $110,000.

Freeper Gunny Bob is covering this on his program.
He is on late tonight, and you can listen to his program on replay.
Thanks. Caught part of his show last nite.
Terrorists could take out the entire city of Denver, and the DNC would STILL not see the light.
Jeeze, these people are nuts. They DO belong on the same team.
Thanks for the ping.
Very interesting Bluegill information :)
Very interesting, never thought of the bluegill as the canary of global terrorism. What do the AR nutjobs say about this? :-)
