Jimmy Carter, at the height of the Carter follies, said we must develop independence from the mid East or be bossed by the mid east...and here we are 30 years later, two and a half generations later, with out so much as a well or a new refinery to show for all that time.

No way will this nation be able to get around the notion that we absolutely BEGGED for it, when we get hit with whatever (you can bet) Putin and Iran have planned for us.

Hell even the peanut farmer knew the truth all that time ago.

The Russian attack on Georgia should firmly put ! on the necessity to Drill and produce as much as we can. Between Russia and Iran we could be cut off much too easily and the demands that we drain the reserve are simply insane or spring from loyalties that do not include the USA.

Da Ruskis have become a one-trick pony - energy (oil/nat gas). Even their military has fallen into a general state of disrepair and is of questionable efficiency and effectiveness. They have benefitted hugely with the run-up to $140/barrel oil and it's "gone to their head" so to speak. The single best way to put them in their place is open everything we have to energy exploration and create a crash program to develop alternatives. More oil with drive the global price down over the near-term (i.e. 5-15 years) & the development of the alternatives will keep it down permanently.

The result of this will be the Ruskis heading back to being the third world country run by thugs that they were before.

Ping, Ping, Ping.....lol. I was discussing this angle just the other day with a group of collegues. Now only if the repubs will pick up on this and exploit the vunerabilities of the left even more so..... folks, this is NOT a use of scare tactics, this is reality (My God even Carter could see this as a reality). There is so much more to this than run of the mill Russian bullying... and DO NOT, even think for a second, that there is no coorelation b/w Russia’s atrophied “muscle flexing” and the leadership (if you can call it that) of Pelosi/Reid, et. al. and the possible election of “The One” in November... the dots are as easy to connect as they were in August of 2001.........
