When I was in the 4th grade, we were introduced to a concept where 2 + 2 always equaled 4.
Not having kept up with all this new math and deficit spending, I am a bit lost as to why anyone would insist on spending more than they earn.

As if we didn’t spend enough on education in California right now.

Doesn’t California pay the college education for each student in the state?
To: An Old Man
They need the extra $3bil to do what they should have been doing all along.
I had Algebra in CA schools in the 8th grade...many years ago. Of course then they divided chillins into A, B and C tracks. The C track didn't get Algebra...the B track got limited exposure to it...and the A track got some darn decent education. There was a time when CA schools were some of the best in the nation.
No longer.

Billions to indoctrinated leftist teachers to indoctrinate our children to be good leftists as well.
Wait, leftists are stupid so the teachers can’t teach and the children can’t learn.
Need more billions.

Just privatize the schools.
Education shouldn't be in the government's domain.
It has a tendency to regress into 'up with more government programs' brainwashing.

I’m out of there as of 8/1 and I couldn’t be happier. Sure, I’ll miss the weather, good restaurants, and the wine country, but I sure won’t miss the people or the socialism.

Okay, I know there are federal requirements to educate all children, but really, California is a prime example of what happens when liberal economic plans and social agendas are followed. We need to stop educating Mexican (and whatever other countries are involved) citizens and stop giving them social services. As we have seen on a small scale, if there is a crackdown and employers are fined, the jobs will dry up and they will have no reason to stay.
That will solve much, but not all, of California's budgetary woes. Then they need to stop the hemorrhaging and attract businesses to strengthen the tax base.

You have to consider the education of the illegals. 2+2 does not equal 4 in this case. In fact, nobody seems to care how much money we throw at the illegals.

Cut off the Illegals and the problem with socialist education still wouldn't be solved.
Rats have never met an education budget they couldn't spend more on.

It probably wouldn't be a problem if they would actively go after the
ILLEGALS.
You know, fewer ILLEGALS on welfare, fewer ILLEGALS demanding health care, fewer children of ILLEGALS clogging up the schools, and therefore, fewer budget problems.
Of course, that would also mean fewer ILLEGALS voting for Democrats.
