TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Bowl might be six months away from coming to town, but the celebrity rumors already are running rampant.
The New York Post's Page Six reported on Tuesday that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform live at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium.
Amanda Holt, the director of communications for the local Super Bowl Committee, said this is the first she has heard of it.

This is the problem with half time shows. In order to find viable entertainment they have to go back to the 80's or further. Could you imagine Fi'ty Cent or Ludacris? There's no good reason Pearl Jam couldn't do it.

Bruce Springsteen may be alive, but his career died before Dukakis lost the 1988 election.
Someone really should tell him it’s over.

Springsteen is a jerk. I have never liked any of his music with one exception. In 2006 he released a CD called
We Shall Overcome: The Pete Seeger Sessions.
Both Lil'Freeper and I really love it.
Too bad he's such an @ss.
Bottom line. Good excuse to watch the Puppy Bowl during halftime.

I cant stand him either. He’s a real whiner in his songs, imho.

I haven’t watched the halftime show for MANY years. Every time I’ve glanced at it, it’s been crap! Give me a marching band, or a pro-american performer, not washed up rock/pop junk.

Without the E Street Band he would’ve been lucky to play open mike at the local dirt-water New Jersey coffee house.
Totally over rated, IMHO

I’m still going to watch the games but that doesn’t mean I’m happy about having this homo involved in the Super Bowl. Bruce is a surrender monkey wimp who only pretends to be a patriot.

I was just about to post that Pete Seeger was a communist and Bruce probably isn’t too far away from that.
I never liked his music and when I found out what a leftist prick he was, I liked it even less.

I've heard a few of their songs and I guess they're ok, but I couldn't imagine them getting a crowd tapping their toes or coming out of their seats the way real rockers of the 80's would. You'd be surprised. I felt the same way until I saw them two summers ago. They put on an amazing show. I wasn't a huge fan of theirs prior to that, but I am now. I can see what you're saying about the lack of solid, wide-audience-crossover modern-day acts though. My fantasy top-3 halftime acts are Skynyrd, Kiss and Santana.

That said; I am just not a fan of combining rock shows with football half time.I've been saying for a while that a good halftime show would be the NFL coming up with a cool live multi-media retrospective of the season on the field.

Did he ever go out on that date with Robin Quivers? Never heard of that one. I haven't really listened to Howard since he went to satellite. I figured she was still going out with Mr. X.
