TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Bowl might be six months away from coming to town, but the celebrity rumors already are running rampant.
The New York Post's Page Six reported on Tuesday that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform live at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium.
Amanda Holt, the director of communications for the local Super Bowl Committee, said this is the first she has heard of it.

What’s wrong with Collinsworth? He’s one of the best NFL analysts on TV.

I thought Petty did Pretty good.
I have never thought of Springsteen as being some sort of rock idol.

There is a tv ad currently playing up here in Canada where a rock star is on stage and he yells It’s great to be here in uh uh pregnant pause...he quickly whips out a smart phone and gets a gps map up on it and reads the town name and then yells it out and the crowd goes wild.

I don’t get it. I’m not going, though. I’ll be watching at home, as we always do.

Boycott? Not me. I can’t stand his stupid politics but I like his very early stuff right up to Born to Run and I love football. Not much chance I’ll miss the Superbowl.

Just how in the heck do you boycott the NFL and what does Springsteen have to with anything in this century?

He's (or was) an incredibly energetic performer, and he has that whole working-man schtick going for him.
He's from Jersey. Need anything more be said?
To: pgkdan
Then just skip the halftime show. That will hit the $3 million advertisers.

I can't boycott the Superbowl or the NFL.
One has to watch it in the first place to qualify.

I'd go watch the Obamas and Clintons play Rock, Paper, Scissors, before I'd listen to BS and the E street band.

It's not the NFL to boycott, it's the halftime show where advertisers spend $3 million for a 30 second commercial. When the NFL sees a potential hit of the ad dollars they'll back off the bum entertainment.

The only album of Springsteens I enjoyed and bought was Born in the USA. I can't stand his old nasally stuff and now everything is bash Bush, bash America, blah, blah, blah.
I've always loved Bob Segar and his music consistently. I wouldn't take 10 Springsteens for one Segar.
