THE [MUSLIM] KOSOVO PRICE
The Price of our interventions to shield Kosovo - its separation from Russia
It goes without saying that I - as everybody else - am appalled by the Russian aggression upon Goergia's sovereignty and the brutal massacre upon Georgia and the massacre of its civilians.
But...
We all remember Serbia's great protesting against Kosovo's break away, let's not forget the [local] Muslims' long history of infliction upon the Serbs. (without ignoring Serbs' actions in the 1990's).
What with this delusion, again & again, of "if we just do this or that - they will like us now"?
.
Around 2 weeks ago, Russia has declared that is willing to "accept" Kosovo's independence, if... if they have/get Georgia and the Ukraine back.
Why enrage the Russian bear?
Why did we have to 'take a stand' to stand by Kosovo?
Well, assuming it was because of the pipeline...
Can you really describe a "horrendous scenario" if we just stood idol by? Go ahead!
Who's the architect of US policy in the Balkans?
Now we all witness a 'sudden' breakout war between Russia and Georgia, well of course Russia became ever more edgy than before, Don't get me wrong, I support Georgia and its independence, of course, but I wasn't for the "staunch" support we backed up the separation for Kosovo, now we reap what we saw.
Even as news comes out now [August 12, 2008] that Russia is putting a holt to its offensive, the human loss is already great, the damage is done and the intended effect of intimidating any country in the region from cozing up to the west has been an unfortunate [Russian] "success".
Around 2 weeks ago, Russia has declared that is willing to "accept" Kosovo's independence, if... if they have/get Georgia and the Ukraine back. You gotta source for this?
Following this logic, it might be an even trade if we chose to occupy Serbia.
I think Putin's little Caucus soiree may be beneficial to us in the medium-to-long term. It has hardened the ex-communist countries resolve against Russia and may even result in Western Europe finally turning away from Russia as a petroleum supplier since Putin seems determined to use it as a weapon.
End result will be a more isolated Russia.
