Beijing Plays Yet Another Trick on the World

While lip synching is certainly not a new phenenenom in musical performances, the fact that the girl who sang the hymn was passed up because she was not cute enough is a little disturbing. First, if you take a look at the picture of Yang Peiyi, you will quickly discover that she is actually very cute. I hardly would have noticed her ‘buck teeth’ had not someone pointed them out to me. I am sure that a performance by her would have had the same charming effect on the world. Second, if Beijing was willing to deceive the world in this manner, one has to wonder what other measures were taken to make sure that the opening ceremony went so smoothly . We already know that some of the spectacular firework displays over Beijing were staged so coupled with this revelation, there are sure to be more questions forthcoming about Friday night.

Ashlee Simpson and Milli Vanilli have already expressed their disappointment at such blatant deception.

Lip Syncing at huge events like this are NORMAL

It is pre-recorded to reduce the margin of error- you want everything to go perfectly.

Remember the fantastic version of The National Anthem that was sung at 1st SuperBowl post 9-11 by Whitney Houston? lip-synced.

Besides BOTH THESE GIRLS ARE SO ADORABLE~!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed, but look at the reasons that were given for why they made the switch...that is a little disturbing don’t you think?

Mens gymnastics scoring esp on certain events (high bar) was heavily skewed to the Chinese. The Americans did more difficult moves with less errors yet the Chinese got higher scores. The judges were either paid off or fear for their lives if gave Chinese a low score.

So glad the communists have their priorities in order. So, let me get this straight - Shooting political prisoners in the head, okay. Little girls with overbites, not okay. Yup, all is right in our fallen world!

But then, you miss things like Mo Cheeks saving that little girl singing the National Anthem. One of the best things I’ve ever seen.

What a weird freaking country.

They put on a nice show though. And they make little paper drink umbrellas and lawn chairs really cheap.

Everything in China is a fasad, crap construction with nice plaster, junk toys with shiny paint.....

I lived and worked there extensively for years.

Just scratch the surface and you see all the rust hiding under the fresh paint. It’s all about appearances (face)

.... and it’s a very very sad place !

People keep saying, “who’s going to win this or who’s going to win that”. The only winner in this olympics is the Chinese government. The rest of the world is the loser.

So this is deception number two of x. I talked with my folks a couple of days ago and my Mom mentioned how perfect a segment with people holding placards and moving them to form different composit pictures had gone. Mentioned it looked mechanical it was so well done.

She said they talked about it on air and explained how hard and how long the people had trained. Then she said they mentioned how nothing went right all the way up to the actual presentation. My money's on this part of the show being faked as well.

"Yep. Beijing has done it again. Remember that cute little girl who sang in the opening ceremony? It was all lip synched..."

Here is a little tip for all viewers of events like these.

99 out of 100 times you see a performer in the middle of a very large venue and you can't see monitors (speakers for the performer to hear the playback) then they are usually lip syncing. And even if they have the monitors they are still usually lip syncing.

The reason is NOT to fool the public but more to the fact that getting live-sound to the point everyone can hear the mix in these large buildings with any kind of quality and without feedback and rumble while getting a reasonable sound that the performer can sing too is a monumental task.

One of the main problems is that it is near impossible to preset the mix and EQs because an empty building has a totally different sonic footprint as opposed to a full building. The audience literally changes how sound waves travel in the building.

Some performers use ear-buds (Like the headset that comes with I-pods) but they present problems of their own. Ear-buds can throw the timing off of the performer because they hear the direct sound (from the ear-buds) AND the playback (from the house speakers/audience speakers) which can be off by a second or more due to the speed at which sound travels. Even so the delay can be compensated for (IF the performer stays in one place and doesn't move around much)but again its alot of work because of the problem of changing sonic footprint.

This is why most of these things are done by lip-syncing.

It may be normal but it is usually a recording by the same stage performer who is at least representing his/her own work.

This was not.

No one with more than half a brain thinks even the best that China is putting on is anything more than a whole lot of window dressing. China has too long a history of a policy of smoke and mirrors for most educated observers to be taken in. The essence of their Olympics is the equal of the counterfeit drugs, poisoned pet food and exploding tires that they send us: a whole lot of form without substance.
