I just thought of something. Saakashvili should barricade himself in his parliament building. The building should be surrounded by protesters armed with candles, and the Russians should be dared to attack. Worked for the Lithuanians.

1. They won't. There are chances Georgia persuades Ukraine, but they're limited. The Ukrainian authorities cannot push through joining NATO, leave alone pulling back from the CIS.

2. The CIS is a meaningless organisation anyway.

It's a start. Also the G8 should kick Russia out. There must be more we can do just don't know what it is yet.

President Mikheil Saakashvili should be meeting with military advisers to draw up plans for hit-and-run warfare against the long columns of Soviet (oh, I mean Russian) tanks. IEDs are the perfect weapon for this asymmetrical warfare. The cost of Russian chauvinism and belligerence must be made to be high enough that Putin’s approval will drop amongst his nationalistic groupies who buy into his “just saving Russians” claptrap. Make the bear pay for this bullying, President Mikheil Saakashvili.

Hopefully, other nations follow. If not, it will be a meaningless gesture because there is still a good chance Moscow will install a puppet government in Georgia. If this leads to a chain reaction, it will become a huge embarrassment for Russia.

Why hasn't he done it before? He has always had a good reason for this.
