UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The United States suggested on Sunday that Russia was interested in "regime change" in Georgia after Moscow rejected Tbilisi's offer of a cease-fire in the separatist region of South Ossetia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had told U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that the president of Georgia "must go," the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Zalmay Khalilzad, told the Security Council.

Khalilzad then looked straight at Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin and asked if Moscow was looking for "regime change."

Not just regime change. Putin has made a farce of democracy in Russia. He will do the same thing in Georgia, gutting the Georgian democracy and forcing electionof a puppet - or maybe just installing one.

Czar Putin. The new czar, same as the old czars...

What a tag team he and Bolton would make!

I would like to see Ukrainians, or even the Turks to fly in paratroopers into the capital of Georgia. It is not in their interest to see the Russian Bear to come out of its slumber.

I can't imagine Georgians greeting Putin like this.

Others who have suffered Russia's imperialism in the past are also not happy:

Poland and the Baltic states came together on Saturday to issue a harsh condemnation of Russia for what they described as aggression in Georgia and urged NATO and the European Union to oppose it.

The former Soviet republics of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia and Poland, a client state of Moscow under communism, are wary of a resurgent Russia using its muscle to again dominate its neighbours.

"The European Union and NATO must take up the initiative and oppose the spread of imperialist and revisionist policy in the east of Europe," said the statement from the presidents of the four countries.

Those that know Russia the best see the truth.

Like I said on another thread, if I were the President of the United STATES, I would look for ways to get other former Soviet Republics involved in the conflict, even airlifting their troops into Georgia, all on the courtesy of the US Air Force.

Maybe just sending them a lot of stinger missiles and javelin missiles would put a hurt on the Bear.

Khalilzad - real pretty sight.

Born in Pashtoland a mooslem and good buds with Zbiegniew Brzezinski—a Carter lapdog.

What on earth is this world coming to?

Meanwhile, the world is discussing the bikini size of the volleyball team.

Gotta hand it to the Russian Ministry of Truth - they know how to schedule a worldwide distraction as they murder and maim people.

Question:

Which countries are on Georgia’s side?

Which countries are on Russia’s side?

Which countries are neutral?

As I said on the other thread, it makes him look weak and silly.

And I think it’s an insult to Georgia, our ally.
