I am sure Russia will prove you wrong. Russia is only interested in the pipeline. If Russia were at all interested in the lives of the South Ossetians, Russia would not have been so heavy handed. You know that and I know that.

(Voting "Present" 130 times might be a sign of a smart politician. It is not a sign of a good leader.)

“Bush agreeing to let US Air Force transport aircraft (hopefull well escorted) return the Georgian troops from Iraq back to Georgia is a gutsy call and another “up yours” to Putin, daring him toi try and stop it.”
Do you have a link to that?

My advice to all Eastern European states — including Ukraine, Romania and the wonderfully prosperous Baltics:
DO NOT COUNT ON WESTERN EUROPE.
Develop an independent nuclear arsenal — stat.

This is not worthy of condemnation.
It is in my book. If LA and surrounding areas becomes 99.9% Mexican, should they be able to decide they want to become part of Mexico? Borders matter.

Read history. Your example is meaningless. Actually with your mentality Russia can legitimately claim sovereignty over South Ossesia as it was annexed by Russian in the 19th century. That’s realpolitic.

Actually with your mentality ...
Maybe my example is meaningless since I'm still in the learning phase of what's going on between Georgia and Russia. But after that comment, I stopped reading your reply.

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has also called for a "very strong response on the part of the European Union," Sweden's TT news agency reported. A "very strong response"...like what?
