CLARK LAKE As a lifelong Republican and former Republican prosecuting attorney, I am very disappointed in John McCain.
In 2000, I voted for John McCain for president because he was an independent, nonpartisan Republican.
I could not then tolerate George Bush because he clearly lacked the judgment and wisdom to be a president who could be respected around the world. Time has proven this to be true, to our national disgrace.
By authorizing his staff to run television ads trying to link Sen. Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton smacks of desperation. We do not need another desperate president like George Bush who was desperate to get us into Iraq just so he could be re-elected in 2004.
If John McCain reverses field to tell us why we should elect him, I will reconsider. But cheap political stunts like linking irresponsible Hollywood personalities to a candidate for president will not gain the support of serious voters.
The last time a Republican candidate for president tried to claim that a Democratic opponent was lacking in experience was in the Nixon/Kennedy race. Nixon claimed Kennedy was too Catholic and too young. But once in office, Kennedy prove to be a smart president who saved us from a nuclear confrontation with the Soviets over Cuba and made sure that the Berlin airlift stopped the Soviet effort to crush West Berlin.
As a lifelong independent Republican voter and officeholder, I can only hope that John McCain will abandon the advice of the negative Republican attack machine and tell us why he is most qualified to be our president.

Stating something negative about how a candidate has acted or is planning to act is not “negative campaigning.” It is just pointing out their faults. If the Obama lovers don’t like what McCain is saying they should look at his (Obama’s) message and actions. They are upset because the truth is being used and the truth does not favor Obama.
Why is it we’re constantly reading articles by “lifelong” Republicans who can’t stand their nominee and never “lifelong” Dems who can’t stand theirs? This happens every prez election. “I’m a lifelong Republican who with Lincoln helped found the party, but I find my the current
Republican candidate unsupportable because he called his opponent a big spender. I just can’t support name-calling like that. (sniff, sniff)”
Whoever the author of this article is he is full of crap.
George Bush has done some things Im not happy with but the primary function of Protecting the country he has performed fantastically. I dont envy him for 1 minute for having to send Men and women into battle ,but it was something that had to be done and he risked everything and has paid the price in Popularity but has earned my respect as a strong leader . In the Movie Northwest Passage Spencer Tracy says to Walter Brennan to have Mercy on him if he ever sees him in the future when he will be a broken Human being because of the decisions he has had to make as A leader of Men ,the same issues are raised in the The New Batman Movie ,I know they are only movies but the issues are as true and real .George Bush is a Hero in that regard and most people are small in comparison ,sitting out here and not having to actually make the decisions is easy .
This guy is clueless...the ad makes a comparison to their celebrity, it doesn't try to link them to Obama
What I meant was that they will perceive it as such.
Oddly enough for a dedicated, lifelong Republican, the only political contribution from Mr. Hurst the FEC seems to have on record is to a hardline, leftwing Democrat:

Weird, huh?
Of course having any trial lawyer come out against you should be a feather in anyones cap.

Dennis Hurst is not a lifelong Republican. He's backed a couple of Republicans, but also donated to the Senate Democrat Majority Fund, and liberal Supreme Court Justice Marilyn Kelly. He also gave to Judge James Giddings who is no conservative.
