I will be watching. And most likely having to stay up until 3 a.m. to watch wrestling. A former teammate and coach are competing, I will watch wherever they compete.

I am always curious to see how many swimming records fall and how how the pollution affects the track events.

LOL, DieHard the Hunter - you posted common sense to one of the FReepers who literally worships the ground that GW Bush walks on. Avacado has no mind of its own.

“Nope. That’s not the Olympics. That’s jackasses using the Olympics for political purposes.”

Yep, many different participating nations have chosen to use the Olympics to make political points. That’s just part of it. Pretending otherwise doesn’t change that fact.

Good news for Avacado:

Wal-Mart puts all George-W-Suckup kneepads on sale this week, he'll be buying a case for him and all his friends.

Oh wait, he'll only be buying one pair, he's got no friends, LOL

When the USA entered the stadium friday night they got a wonderful reception by the crowd.

I would bet it is fair to say that people of southeast Asia likes Americans much more than Europeans likes Americans or even Mexicans like Americans. You can dish the Chinese government all you want, but I have never meet a citizen from China that has anything against Americans.

Actually, the online site “NBC Olympics” continuously includes some live video feeds of nearly all of the sporting events as they are happening (including all of the sports that are not shown on NBC) and without any commentators and without any commercial interruptions. IMHO, it’s much better to watch the Olympics without listening to the commentators, without having all of those “Olympic video journals” that NBC does every now and then, and without having all of those commercial interruptions. BTW, there are also ways of seeing the Olympics through the video feeds of many other television stations all over the world, thanks to the Internet. I saw the Opening Ceremony Live, thanks to “Justin.tv” Live Sports Online. I watch the Olympics for the athleticism of each athlete and not because of my politics. Like it or not, most of the best athletes in the world compete in the Olympics, and everybody who doesn’t watch them for any reason, either live or on tape, are truly missing out on seeing most of the best athletes in the world doing what they truly do best.

We are watching here. I am proud that our president and his father, a former president, are there rooting for our American athletes. While I am a political junkie and do not want Chinese toys, spices or anything else as I don't trust them, the games are being held there. The scenery is beautiful...especially the Great Wall and the bicycle race yesterday. Sorry you and others are too stubborn to enjoy it. You all need to chill a bit.

” but I have never meet a citizen from China that has anything against Americans.”

That’s because you haven’t been reading posts by our chicom trolls.

Honestly - if you want to really know what many Chinese people think of the USA, please go to one of their sewers ike www.tianya.cn or other fora where insulting posts are ever so common.

I’ve many dear friends from mainland China and not ONE would support the USA over North Korea. We have great arguments about such topics, obviously.

These commie bastards are our enemies. Each and every Chinese citizen (and I use that term citizen very euphemistically), each man, woman and child are enemies to the USA, the west, and basic civilization.

It is such comment that can be taken by outsider to discredit the Free Republic.

I might accidentally watch one of Obama’s stupid ads (which NBC probably gave him a discount on).

They do, but also to McCain. Since Obama has more money, however, we will see more of his.
