So how should Freepers feel about the Olympics? Should we write about it, post about it or covering it in any way?
I feel that every American (including President Bush) that are in attendance at the Olympics are traitors to democracy and civilization.
These commie bastards are our enemies. Each and every Chinese citizen (and I use that term citizen very euphemistically), each man, woman and child are enemies to the USA, the west, and basic civilization. They look at us as enemies and we should return the favor. Look where pretending that "they really don't mean it" got us where it concerns Muslims!
China should be treated as the lepers that they are, not as useful and legitimate citizens of the international community.
We should have, every western nation should have, boycotted these Olympics once the pliable and most likely bribed Olympic Committee chose China to host the games.
But that's just me.
What will be the consensus of our community?
I stopped watching when they started the all pro basketball crud, as if these “athletes” don’t get enough fame and glory (mostly undeserved). I even root against the USA basketball team.
Little boy, are you still temper tantruming?
Flipping through, see that our men’s basketball team is struggling against china. Why didn’t we just send the Celtics over there and have an easy win?
“You are embarrassing yourself with revelations of your fondness for kiddie stuff.”
Actually, you started it. “mkjessup” is pointing to YOUR posts.
Read the thread again.
So far, I have seen both McCain ads and Obama ads, and both have truly been on evenly throughout the Olympics.
No. I saw one McCain ad in Houston in early July just before I left the U.S. I also saw one Obama ad in St. Louis literally the night before I departed.
I haven't seen any of the Olympics. They come on at weird times here. I did see a tape delay broadcast of some of the opening ceremony. We get Armed Forces network, so we don't get political ads at all. (Which is probably a blessing.)
Not one second. Considering that much of what we consume in America comes from china, they already have more spotlight than deserved.
Anything that comes from a COMMIE COUNTRY IS DIRTY! Including NBC Olympic coverage.
I originally posted on the subject. You babies showed up and started spewing in your diapers. I am just sitting back and laughing at you temper tantrum brats. Too damn funny.
Kia Ora- How about if they made Sheep shearing an Olympic
event? Sorry,I couldn’t resist.
You’re a sick person.
I believe that the olympics themselves have become even bigger mockeries of their purpose. They are propaganda. They are professional, in almost every sense of the word. The US got pro athletes involved because we were almost the only ones who defined “amateur” the way we did. I could go on...
BUT, the United States has fielded a team for these olympics. Why and/or how would it be “unpatriotic” to support our fellow Americans as they compete on the olympic stage? Unpatriotic is a word that SHOULD be reserved for acts that intentionally damage the United States or its reputation.
Standing up to a bully (China and others) by traveling into the lion’s den and beating the crap out of the lion (winning medals) is a far cry from intentionally damaging the U.S.
Having said all that, I couldn’t personally care less about the Olympics. I have not and will not spend any time or energy watching them.
Ah yeah, I forgot that you’re in the Middle East now. Yes, watching the Olympics without having to see any political ads is a blessing!
No projection. You’re a sick person.
These Beijing Olympics might be the biggest PR event in history. Polls show that a significant majority of the Chinese people believe this is the most important event in modern Chinese history. And they spent $300 million on their opening ceremonies compared to $30 million for Athens in 2004.
Rooting for the US team is somehow traitorous? Please...
Thanks for the heads-up. I'm watching now. 28-21 USA
