This war demonstrates AGAIN that we should become less dependent on foreign sources of oil by exploring ALL domestic sources. Drill in the ANWR, open up all offshore areas, build nuclear power plants, use wind power and more natural gas per Boone Pickens. www.pickensplan.com

Instead, the DemoSociaists want to keep the US dependent on foreign oil, and Congress has passed the “Corn Laws”, mandating use of corn for ethanol, which has driven up the cost of food. Our idiotic Congressmorons have their collective heads up their collective butts.

Russian fighter jets targeted the the major Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline which carries oil to the West from Asia but missed, Georgia's Economic Development Minister Ekaterina Sharashidze said on Saturday."

This is the highest form of stupidity. The Georgians and Reuters are doing the Russian's battle damage assessment for them. The right move would be to shut off the pipeline temporarily and pretend to work frantically on "repairing" it.

One of the things the pubic is completely in the dark on is that judging the effectiveness of a military attack is very difficult.

If they had just chosen the hardest to damage part of the pipeline the Russians had attacked, sent in a fake repair crew, and then turned it back on a day later, the Russians would be duped into repeating the ineffective attack.

That’s a big if. I don’t think we, the Turks or the Poles are worried about Russia, but Russia’s friends.

I’ve never been a big apocolypse person, but what is that theory on Magog and such? Does anyone here know?

If we wait until we need it, and I don’t mean expensive, but need it, to get drills going, we will be shut down as a nation.

There have been leaders to destroy their country with foolish decisions before. I hope Pelosi is ready to have her name in the history books as the idiot who helped bring down the Mighty America. Bush needs to get out of the Olympics and back here calling Congress in session now.

This has become a national security situation with Russia controlling the pipeline. And we have no way to sustain ourselves for any length of time.

I don’t know, maybe I shouldn’t be worried. Maybe I should just go back to sleep as it seems the world wants me to do. And you, and you and you.

Good points. I would suspect that the east european ex-soviet slave states won’t let Russia do this without opposition. They can see the handwriting on the wall much better than I can.

that will most likely result in Russia whittling away parts of Georgia until it is completely absorbed by Russia.

I think you're right. Looking at the map, it looks as if South Ossetia is to Georgia as the Sudetenland was to Czechoslovakia. I.e. Georgia is indefensible without S. Ossetia.

“I’m afraid the Georgians are going to be advised to give it up.”

The latest reports are that Georgian troops have been ordered to cease fire. Looks like South Ossettia is firmly in Russian hands.

Russia needs a slave empire since it can’t even feed itself.

You, stop drinking the Cold Warrior kool-aid. The second half of your sentence is a fantasy.

The PKK (Marxist Kurds) blew up part of the BTC pipeline in Turkey a few days ago. No word on when the Turks will be able to get in and repair it.
