John Edwards lied when he denied his affair. Now he’s asking the nation to take his word that he’s revealed everything.
But the strange behavior of Edwards and those around him, coupled with the backlog of other tabloid allegations, raise many unanswered questions.
Three weeks ago, for instance, the National Enquirer confronted John Edwards at 2:40 a.m. leaving his mistress' hotel room in Beverly Hills, allegedly after visiting their so-called love child. Shortly afterward, FOXNews.com confirmed Edwards indeed had been escorted from a hotel bathroom by security guards who witnessed his sprint from reporters.
In the days that followed, Edwards dismissed all related questions, consistently saying he wouldn't respond to "tabloid lies."
Now, he has answered the biggest question surrounding the reports by admitting to an extra-marital affair with a filmmaker, Rielle Hunter, in 2006.

I don’t see it as particularly strange. Some guys will throw away everything to chase a skirt. It may not be right, but it’s fairly common.
Why did he pay her a monthly amount? Was she blackmailing him?

“Hey, I need you to fix me up with a vial of blood for a paternity test, doesn’t matter who’s it is, so long as it’s not mine”...
Guess he won’t be Obama’s running mate now! I suspect H.C. is trying to eliminate all possible rivals for the second seat.
And Edwards must be giving the Youngs some big bucks to lie about the child’s father. Are they blackmailing him?
NE would come back and ask court to mandate paternity test. Edwards loses. NE countersues.

My guess is that the National Enquirer folks have been dumpster diving and have DNA proof that the child belongs to Edwards. .
Agreed. Tabloids sometimes do publish trash and innuendo that isn’t true, or can’t be proven. But in this case, they did better investigative journalism than the MSM did.
So, if they were really libeling the reputation of an honest good man, that would deserve a lawsuit.
I just feel sorry for Elizabeth....her children will be motherless soon enough; does she want to leave the lying scum and leave them fatherless for now?

Edwards may think he put this all behind him, but this story could drag on as investigations into the money trail continue.

If Hunter files charges of date rape then Edwards could be chemically castrated. That’s probably why he has been paying her money.
