The family of John Edwards' former mistress, Rielle Hunter, is challenging the former senator to take a DNA paternity test after his claim that he did not father Hunter's six-month old child.
In the first reaction from Hunter's family, her younger sister Melissa told ABC News that Edwards should immediately follow through on his pledge to take a paternity test.
"I would challenge him to do so," the sister said. "Somebody must stand up and defend my sister," she said. "I wish that those involved would refrain from bad-mouthing my sister."
In his interview with ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff acknowledging the affair, Edwards said he knew the child was not his because of "the timing" of the pregnancy and the affair.
"I would welcome participating in a paternity test," Edwards said. "I'm only one side of the test, but I'm happy to participate in one."
Hunter left her Santa Barbara home earlier this week in advance of Edwards' ABC News interview.

Sounds like the mother of the child is herself stating that there will be no DNA test of the child.
That’s extreme loyalty to Edwards, extreme fear of Edwards, or something else. Who knows?
I expect that Edwards knew this going in.
I think he’s political toast, though.

This guy has had a serious case of the "cutes" for a long time,( $400 hair cuts) and you can best believe she is no where near being his first extra marital experience.
But something tells me that we haven't heard the last of the "silk pony" and his escapades.

Hunter hopes Edwards will marry her when Elizabeth Edwards dies of cancer. If she makes him take the paternity test, she’s afraid he won’t. She’s a dope. The only person Edwards loves is himself.
If he takes the test and she still refuses to take it, we’re not going to learn anything new.

Edwards is the “Silky PHONY” now.
The term Silky Pony was coined by Laura Ingraham to indicate that Edwards is a vacuous twit who cares only about such things as his hair while he blathers on about the 2 Americas. Listening to the opinions of Silky Pony has about as much value as playing with My Little Pony. It’s the same implication that Breck Girl contains.
He was so brazen because Rielle has announced that she will not submit the baby's DNA for a paternity test and wants to be left alone. This story may die out after all, but even a moron knows damned well that Edwards is the father.
Ah, yes, I believe I wrote that comment in the short time after Rielle’s sister challenged Edwards, before Rielle pooh-poohed it all.
Check today’s news. She ain’t gonna do it!
