Lieberman ‘on McCain short-list’
Financial Times ^ | 08/09/2008 | Stephanie Kirchgaessner in Washington

"Joe Lieberman, the former Democratic vice-presidential nominee who has endorsed John McCain, is being vetted as a potential running mate for the Republican presidential hopeful, according to an adviser to Mr McCain’s campaign."

"Conservatives would be pissed as hell – I think you would have a revolt, but sometimes John does what John wants to do,” the McCain adviser said.

I am not the enemy, calcogirl. I'm just a big-picture guy.

And "hopelessly liberal," I believe the term was on your old profile page.

That's a "big-picture" I don't share. Sorry.

Are you for illegal immigration?

Are you for illegal immigration?

Of course not. I want the borders secured and the visa process better tracked just like anybody in here should.

I just want Maria, who cleans the hotel rooms to be treated differently than Pedro, the felon.

I want them documented...not deported.

Let's not start a gang-bang, because I won't play.

Furthermore, it would only prove my point about those 200 troublemakers in here. That .001 percent that provide the MSM the evening soundbite.

Afterall, we have some reasonable people on this thread. Who wants to draw flies? ;^)

It's a big deal, pilgrim. Supporting comprehensive immigration reform doesn't make you a strong conservative. It goes against every conservative principle I know of.

Reagan signed off on the IRCA of 1986 and lived to regret it. Thanks to Ted Kennedy and the Dems, that legislation was gutted. Instead of a secure border, serious employer sanctions and stiff penalties for foreigners who come here illegally. We have 20 million law breakers to deal with.

Lieberman as McCain's Veep is a wrongheaded decision that will not garner him more votes. It will lose him millions of conservative votes.

There is no requirement that there be a "ticket".

If Senator Lieberman wants to run for Vice-President, there's no reason he shouldn't.

So? Get over it. My fat FICON a$$ is as wide as your fat SOCON a$$.

Like I said....secure the borders and it shouldn't happen again.

And it will secure millions of conservative, moderate and INDY votes....given the opponent.

LOL.

Lieberman... more like cement shoes. Deadly to conservatism.

So you admit to being a liberal. LOL

>>>>>Like I said....secure the borders and it shouldn't happen again.

Reagan would agree. Once is enough. NO AMNESTY!

>>>>> ... it will secure millions of conservative, moderate and INDY votes....given the opponent.

With a liberal like Lieberman, Giuliani or Romney as McCain's running mate, say hello to President Obama.

My fat FICON a$$ is as wide as your fat SOCON a$$.

So much for reasonable people on this thread.

BTW, there is *nothing* fiscally conservative about promoting a $2 trillion dollar amnesty program and expecting taxpayers not to revolt. Promoting slavery would bring on about the same reaction.

[Lieberman as McCain's Veep]... will secure millions of conservative, moderate and INDY votes....given the opponent.

I think this is really wrong headed. Given McCain's age, the veep choice is more important this year than in other elections. People want a veep that would be able to take over in the case of McCain's unfortunate demise. Placing a Liberal on the ticket as President-in-Waiting is NOT going to attract conservatives and moderates.

Me neither. I am sick of this stuff. I told myself
that if this became a McCain cheerleader site, I would not be happy.

Mainly because people knew he was a jerk a little over a year ago. Uhg. Now all at once he is a real conservative hero. Go figger?

I told myself that if this became a McCain cheerleader site, I would not be happy.

Listen up, indylindy.

We're 90 days away. I want to win.

Noticed you signed up a couple of weeks before the 2006 elections.

How THAT work out for you? For us?

I've been fighting RATS and LIBS in here since 1998. Shared in a lot of wonderful victories along the way.

What about you? What have you been excited about since the 2006 mid-terms?

And why should anyone care if you're happy or not?

We're dealing with reality today. Not still mourning for your idea of a true conservative in a candidate.

The best thing he could do is get Joe to caucus with the GOP.

Quite frankly DC, I wasn’t posting to you, I really don’t care what you think. You obviously care more about what I think. So I will ignore your bully post and tell you. Obama cannot win, unless McCain has a closet surprise for everyone.

I am resigned to the B hole McCain as the nominee. Won’t stop me from posting the truth about him. People here all know who McCain is. Some are just going to vote for him because he sucks less than Obama. That is a hollow victory. Nothing to be proud of. So a win by the tactics used in this election is a pathetic one. You go ahead and do kicks and high fives. Time is going to come when people around here are going to see it as bad that they were snookered. You know it, and so do I. But it will be too late, won’t it?

By the way, don’t play the Mccain, patriot thing with me. While admiring his service, my whole family, including my own child have served in the US mititary, have you? It doesn’t change the fact that MCCain is a move to the left and a collaberator with Democrats.

Have a great Saturday night.

We're dealing with reality today.

Some of us are. Given your enthusiasm for a 'Kumbaya, half-elephant, half-jack@ss' ticket, you would not appear to be a member of that group.

If McCaine selects Lieberman as his running mate BEFORE the convention, maybe he'll move the festivities to Lincoln, Nebraska - it's about half way between Denver & Minneapolis...

;>)

Your vote matters for the national popular vote.

Think about it.
