Some months ago, while she was on tour, promoting her book, Saving Graces, I met and interviewed Elizabeth Edwards at a signing in New York City (see the interview below). At the time, John Edwards had not yet announced his 2008 presidential candidacy but the intention was in the air. As his wife spoke, her husband of 30 years watched her with pride and affection. They exchanged knowing looks and smiles. They conversed in the way of long time friends and lovers.
Yesterday, with her husband by her side, looking at her with pride and palpable affection, Elizabeth Edwards revealed with candor and grace that her breast cancer had recurred. Specifically, the cancer had traveled to her bone taking up residence on her right rib. Officially, Elizabeth Edwards now has Stage IV metastatic breast cancer which means her cancer is chronic, treatable but not curable. She’ll need treatment of one kind or another for the rest of her life.
She put out her statement shortly after you posted, mware. Says he told her and this story is about sensationalism and profit. They both insist he told her and that the affair ended in ‘06, before her recurrene of the breast cancer. But I don’t believe anything either of them says.

I think Elizabeth Edwards is every bit as politically ambitious as Hillary Clinton, and maybe moreso than her husband. Her illness is all that’s held her down to the extent she has been held down. Just really do not like the woman.
That said, yes, I would pray for her and for her children.
Yes, a little after I posted that comment she released her statement.
Why the hell they parade out their women after they reveal what they have done amazes me.
BTW, the courts decided that the former Mrs McGreevy will receive $250 per week as child support.
Heck I know people who make under 50K a year who pay more than that.
What nonsense. There are plenty of people in this world far more deserving of our prayers and concern than millionaires like Mrs. Edwards and her children. She is standing by her man and is perfectly willing to accept what happened. Even when she was out of remission, she dutifully supported her husband's run for the presidency and if you believe him, after she found out about the affair.
Pray for her? No, I am far more concerned about the welfare of the men [and their families] who are fighting and dying for us in the military, police, etc.
ouch .. the McGreevy payt is outrageous. Maybe it’s cause the former Mrs. made big bucks on her own? At $250/week, his payment is not much more than the kid would get on welfare.
Of all the Dem women who’ve been cheated on, the one I respect is Lee Hart ... when Gary’s affair surfaced she was in CO and stayed in CO, refusing to come back to DC to be his lil prop. The rest of the women are just as bad as the men ... politically ambitious enablers.
Still doesn't make sense to me because that has nothing to do with caring for her children. (I believe she has more than one child)
I think I’ll pray instead for the family of Andrew Whatshisname who Ms. Edwards let subject himself and his wife and children to ridicule and humiliation and disgrace to protect her pig husband from having to tell the truth. She did know in 2006 then didn’t she?
