"They have declared war against us," said Lamaia.

They would have to recognize their sovereignty to declare war. As it stands, Russia views them more as a prodigal child.

We not only have military personel in Georgia, we have had personel at the Vaziani training center since 2002. They may well have come under fire today. From last month

Marines and Georgians move to the Field

VAZIANI TRAINING BASE, Georgia-Hungry Marines and Georgians finally arrive at the end of the chow line giving them their first hot meal of the day and allowing them to continue their conversations over dinner.

OK everyone take a deep breath then go read about this conflict. Georgian troops have always fought alongside russians in this separatist war. This is not Russia vs Georgia.

Congress will express regret and suggest that in order to relieve tensions, all involved should check their tire pressures.

August 8, 2008—the Beijing Olympics and the violent phase of the second Cold War have begun!

I hope Georgia can kick the Russians out...otherwise we’ve got some real trouble on our hands.

P.S. Anyone read “The Moscow Vector?” This is similar to some events in that book....

Asked whether Georgia and Russia were now at war, he said, “My country is in self-defense against Russian aggression. Russian troops invaded Georgia.”

Any word on when the 200,000 protestors will march in Paris? Are the Dixie Chicks booked yet for the protest concert in London? /sarcasm

Russia has a strategic interest in controlling its borders... 10% of Georgia is Muslim. France is only 5%-10% and they have no control what so ever.

I’m sure there are tacit go-heads from western nations to take control so to avoid another Serbia type mistake.
