"The Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, was sent to jail today for violating travel restrictions that are a condition of his being free on bond as he awaits trial on eight counts of perjury and other felonies. The travel restrictions were tightened after Mayor Kilpatrick was accused of assaulting a sheriff's deputy who served a subpoena on him. Mayor Kilpatrick is a superdelegate to the Democratic National Convention.
In May 2007, Kilpatrick received this glowing endorsement from Barack Obama, who called him a "great mayor" who is doing an "outstanding job." My favorite part is where Obama says that Kilpatrick "is going to be doing astounding things for many years to come:"
Obama said he was "grateful to call [Kwame Kilpatrick] a friend," but that was then and this is now. The Mayor is obviously radioactive, but his situation poses a delicate problem for Obama. Kwame's mother, Carolyn Kilpatrick, is Chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus. She faced a tough re-election race this year, mostly because of her outspoken support for her son, but Obama never endorsed her. She won the Democratic primary anyway, narrowly, on Tuesday.
Now Obama may need the Kilpatricks' support in order to carry Michigan, which appears to be in play..."
Difficult to back out of for Obama, but he's a master and the MSM will help.

Only time I was ever in Detroit was for a professional meeting some 30 years ago. It was bad even then. My cab driver who took me from the airport to the hotel told me not to leave the hotel at night, even with a group of people. Was from a small town in Kansas at that time so believe me I stayed in - even ordered room service and had them leave the try outside the door. What a wuss! Re the golf - the other really bad thing is that the other condition was that if I lost I would also lose my 1 stroke a hole advantage. Loser at the end also buys dinner so will probably turn out to be an expensive bet I made.
That’s ‘Detroit,’ and it rhymes with ‘Destroy-it.’ ;-)
You are gonna have to better that game, glad it’s not me I would be paying for the round and dinner.
I’m fortunate I have never been to the big D. I have only read about it and spoken to people about the hell it has become. I don’t blame you for the room service.
Seems like the good mayor just wants to make it better! (sarc)
Did you hear this?
I was only disappointed to see that he wasn’t going to jail for a long, long time.
As those of us who live in the suburbs call it....DeToliet!
Who, Kwame or O'Bamy? ;)
