Proud To Be A Republican ( a roundup of the House revolt)
Powerline ^ | 8/6/08 | John Hinderaker

That's how a great many people feel about the impromptu rebellion that House Republicans have staged against Nancy Pelosi's refusal to allow a vote to lower energy prices by increasing supply. Last Friday, Pelosi adjourned the House without having done anything to address the country's energy problems. Republicans voted against adjournment, and since then, an energetic band of Republican Congressmen has carried out a guerrilla campaign against the thoughtless arrogance that Pelosi embodies and that typifies the modern Democratic Party.

Initially, Republicans refused to go on vacation and instead stayed in the House chamber, continuing to discuss and debate the energy issue before a surprised audience of tourists. Pelosi, not wanting voters to hear the Republicans' message, responded by ordering the chamber's lights and microphones turned off.

Undeterred, the Republicans continued their effort to get their message out. As the days have gone by, more and more attention has been drawn to their revolt against entrenched power, on behalf of the American people. You can see photos of the protest here.

Thanks Dawnsblood. The President hasn’t called Congress back into session, and he’s smart not to. The Demwit convention is again shaping up to be a mess, and a number of red state Dims who manage to get reelected could bolt from the party after November.

Spot on!

Why should the President recall the democrats?

These idiots and their "leader" Pelosi have an obligation to serve the American people.

If Pelosi chooses to give Americans the middle finger for five weeks (while taking OUR money from us ala her bloated salary), why should the President be expected to clean up her mess?

I tried to email Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn from Tn. to tell her how proud I am of her but when I click on the link to contact her, it keeps taking me to Lincoln Davis’s contact page. He is a moonbat Rat who marches lockstep with Pelosi. I wonder why it won’t let me email Marsha.

It sounds like someone has put a redirect on the link to her email, that someone would be a rat supporter. Try calling her instead, even if you get her voice mail she will know you support her, or call the Whip or the Leader(republican whip and leader), and let them know and mention Blackburn to them. They(the republicans getting phone calls on this) are overjoyed with the response they are getting and if you call just happen to drop Freerepublic's name to them also.

Ok Thanks so much. I will do that. I think I will mention the redirect to them, too.

I called Marsha Blackburns campaign headquarters and actually talked to a real person. She was so sweet. She said she appreciated the info about the redirect. They are going to check into it. She told me to send her an email through her campaign headquarters. The lady I talked to said Marsha is very appreciative of the pos feedback she has been getting. I mentioned that I had read about this on FR. She was very appreciative.

I agree; let the House pubbies take the credit for spurring the Dems into action (or let the Dems fall on their own arrogance if they fail to act). This is the kind of thing that just might save some pubbie seats this fall (crossing my fingers!).

:') Thanks!

The *only* cover story the Dhimmicrats tried was mostly by proxy -- when the Saudi king, or maybe it was the oil minister (or some other corrupt prince from there) blamed the rising price on "speculators". It was ridiculous on its face, such that even the Demwits only made a half-hearted effort to get behind that one. When the price of oil hits $140, at 42 gallons a barrel, the raw material cost for gas is over $3 a gallon, and some of the oil is consumed in the refining (and a little bit in the transportation and distribution). A chunk of the retail price is federal, state, and rarely local taxes, and if it weren't for (heavily taxed) tobacco products, cheap gallons of milk, and various candy and soft drink items, a lot of gas stations would not be able to stay open.

The Party of Lemmings are going over the cliff, and they're doing so willingly.

There’s no way for the Pubbies *not* to get credit, unless the MSM isn’t giving any coverage to this. I wouldn’t know, I no longer watch TV “news” programs, except in passing.

Denver just outlawed the carrying of feces and urine, in order to get ahead of the game when the Demwits and their uninvited thugs hit town. The contrast between the Pubbie sit-in and the riot in Denver — not to mention the free for all the convention floor may wind up being (I’d be surprised if there aren’t arrests of brawlers) — should be clear and obvious to the public.

I think it is beyond hilarious that the Dems had to sign an agreement NOT to carry feces around for the purpose of throwing it, AND that the city has to ban the practice because the Dems can’t be trusted not to violate their agreement! LOLOLOLOL! At least our side doesn’t carry feces or pose naked as “political” statements! How incredibly juvenile (and stupid) to think that sh** equates to meaningful political dialogue, LOLOLOL!
