The problem with the plan is it doesn’t make incentives for the right thing. Instead of trying to get companies to build a slew of electric cars running on current dirty battery technology, how about broad-based fuel replacement incentives that cover everything from microalgae farms to efficient nuclear power plants? How about instead of hitching your plan to one technology like hybrid or electric cars, make incentives for every type of alternate locomotion, including flywheel energy storage and alternate paths within communities to accommodate smaller, 30mph max vehicles that don’t have to pass 60mph crash safety tests against an SUV.
Pickens irritates me no end, but there is a use for wind power. Instead of loading the grid with its juice, invert the energy into recharging hybrid batters. Have trucks on routes dropping off your drained batts and picking up your charged ones.
