NO!!!
Isn’t there always a last minute SC appeal ?
They have decided 5-4 to go with the execution.
Bump-ping!
No, SCOTUS issued no stay. They denied a stay by a vote of 5-4. Opinions here: http://www.scotusblog.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/medellin-opinion-8-5-08.pdf
The “delay” (which was not a formal stay at all) was due to those dissents being written.
“Let’s do it!” - Gary Gilmore
Kill him anyway. SCOTUS decisions aren’t enforced anyway. Just ask the residents of DC after SCOTUS told them they had a right to keep and bear arms...... DC said screw it and just passed a new law as bad as the last.
Wiki said there were five guys convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of those 2 poor girls. Have the other 4 guys been executed yet?
“Under a 1963 treaty signed by the United States and 165 other countries, citizens from any of the participating nations are entitled to contact a consular official without delay if they are arrested overseas.”
THANK A KENNEDY!!
The Bush Administration would be compelled by law and our constitution to answer to any and all TREATIES signed by this country.
It was Kennedy who signed the stupid thing in 1963!
Skin him alive and mount the hide at the border as a warning.
You need to look at the USSC decision. 5-4 to execute him tonight.
I didn’t read the courts reasons but if they are not for soverign reasons then Texas was just full of hot air if they don’t execute.
Hey Breyer. Who enforces your "international law?" Those U.N. sissies in their powder blue helmets? ROTFL!!! Gimme a break!
Court denies Medellin’s request for stay of execution!!!!!!

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US Supreme Court has rejected a last-ditch appeal by a Mexican muderer on Texas death row, paving the way for him to be put to death despite a world court order for a stay of execution.
"The application for stay of execution of sentence of death ... is denied," the Supreme Court ruled.
I’m really surprised at the liberals over this. They are all so fond of “sending a message” that it boggles the mind that they are against “sending a message” to Mexican criminals that they cannot get away with murdering people in America the way they do back home.
Too late to get upset now, the southwest already belongs to Mexico.
Justice delayed is justice denied.
This photo released by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice
shows death row inmate Jose Medellin who is set for execution at the
Texas Prison in Huntsville, Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008. Medellin, now 33,
was one of six teenagers arrested and charged with the gang rape and
murders of Elizabeth Pena, 16, and Jennifer Ertman, 14. The two Houston
girls, returning from a friend's house, took a shortcut home
along some railroad tracks and stumbled on a group of teenagers drinking
beer after initiating a new gang member. The scheduled execution of Medellin
has attracted international attention after the International Court of Justice,
also known as the World Court, said the Mexican-born Medellin and some 50
other Mexicans on death rows around the nation should have new hearings
in U.S. courts to determine whether a 1963 treaty was violated with their
arrests. (AP Photo/Texas Department of Criminal Justice, File)
Take that,Mexican government! Take that,International "Court of Justice"!
