Rep. John Kline (R-MN) flew back to DC on Sunday night to rejoin his colleagues on the House floor and demand a vote on an energy bill.
Kline is a very good conservative representative for the SW district of MN. He’s a career Marine, now retired and has been in the House of Rep. for about 3 or 4 terms now. He’s a fighter.
Also, my own Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has been lighting up the airwaves for the past 10 days about the need for a comprehensive energy policy and the need to drill for oil in ANWR and off-shore. She was on Larry King live last night, but I did not know it in time to watch her. The left is gathering steam to bring her down. I think her high profile now on drilling for oil will help her in her first re-election campaign.
Energy is the big camapign issue for the fall election, and the GOP owns it.
If the Prez calls them back in, Congress will pass a bad bill, like the "compromise" now being floated, claim it's a good bill, the media will lie for them and Bush will either have to veto the bill, looking like the bad guy, or sign a bad bill. And all the momentum to drill will be lost.
Bill Owens called the Colorado legislature back into session demanding action on immigration, and that's exactly what happened to him.
