Is Obama Just Too Weird To Be Elected President?

Is Sen. Barack Obama just too weird to be elected president?

Since the day Obama claimed the Democratic nomination, pundits and political pros have been waiting for him to take a significant lead in the polls. Here we are in August, and not only has Obama failed to get the Democrat’s traditional summertime bump, he’s tied with John McCain in the latest Gallup and Rasmussen polls.

In a lousy year for Republicans, against a GOP nominee who combines the youthful effervescence of Wilford Brimley with the soaring oratory of a life insurance seminar, Obama is actually losing ground.

Why?

Obama, sadly, blames race. It’s all about evil Republicans, he claims, trying to scare voters by telling them “I don’t look like those guys on the dollar bills” and “Did I mention he’s black?”

The mainstream media blame the “vicious” and “negative” attack ads of the McCain campaign. The McCain campaign thinks it’s all about oil, gas prices and Obama’s position on offshore drilling - whatever that may be at the moment.

But it was during a conversation with my radio listeners about Obama’s birthday trip to Boston yesterday that I got a glimpse into the Chosen One’s real problem.

We were looking for the perfect gift for “The man who is everything” and I was suggesting the traditional items for someone of Obama’s stature - gold, frankincense and myrrh. I was taken aback by the number of listeners who said the Democratic standard-bearer should get nothing because of a People magazine article about the Obama family’s policy of not giving Christmas or birthday presents to their own two daughters.

I didn’t bring that fact up. My listeners did, and it bothered them.

Now there’s nothing necessarily wrong with parents not giving their kids birthday or holiday gifts, but...

A family that isn't normal is too weird for Americans. Nuff' said.

Wow. I never heard the "no birthday presents" thing before.

Reason #6,305 why I loathe the man.

Interesting how close people are reading and listening. I read they did not give kids presents on holidays and had a minor start,,who does that? What kind of vanity is that?

But it slipped my mind till now. When you think about it, the gift you give a child gives you more pleasure than anything. WHy eschew that?

Moral vanity,,no other explanation suits.

Re your pic of Obama and the teleprompter: Reminds me of Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy. “He’ll read anything that is on the teleprompter, and I mean ANYTHING.”

Obama just isn’t a “regular guy”. When people are trying to decide if they like another person, they try to find the similarities. Hard to find simpatico with an arugula-loving, ice cream-hating man who married the very bitter Michelle and withholds gifts from his children on their birthdays.

I think because the media have give us such huge focus and information overload on their chosen ‘messiah’ we are now able to build a history and background on this meterorite who has landed (or has been pushed) into our lives.

Different? Yes.

POTUS material? No way.

Obama could never represent the majority of the people here and has no concept of our focus and goals. His mission is to change what has worked for decades.

All I have learned from this exercise in frightful frustration is how skewed the media can be and wonder if their own goals are to dismember what is successful in our nation - even to their own detriment.

Media may think they are necessary but they should not forget they are a product of those who can afford the entertainment they provide, not the intellect.

For some reason they the MSM have fallen into a narcissistic trap of believing they rule our national thought.

I thank God every day for the gift of the internet where we are privileged to know the mind and heart of reality, not the trimmings and glitter the media portray to sell themselves like whores on the street.

IMHO, if Obama fails to the POTUS we will probably be dodging major bullets.

In Memphis, Tenn,. Blacks truly believe that he is the “Messiah”.

If this were an event to elect, say, a freak-show barker, one with a good voice to yell out "Step right up! See the 8-limbed man-o-pus: part man, part octopus!" then yeah, I would elect him for that.

But he is running for president of the U.S. We are in a war, largely in retaliation against the bombing on 9/11 which requires more than a powderpuff, spaghetti-spined liberal at the helm of our great ship America.

Furthermore, his tax-the-rich economics are falling on weary ears because it's all been heard before. We aren't a nation of bitter hippies anymore. The times, they've a changed.

From the article:

He barely won his own party’s nomination, but his campaign designed its own presidential seal and has “President” printed across the back of his seat on his campaign jet.

“...Obama family’s policy of not giving Christmas or birthday presents to their own two daughters.”

If true, this is a big nail in nobama’s coffin. The vast majority of Americans identify with Christmas celebrations. If nobama doesn’t observe these traditions, that’s a primary reason for Americans to question what traditions nobama observes and honors.
