VERACRUZ, Mexico (AP) - Two people are dead after a shootout between Mexican police and smugglers driving a truck packed with illegal immigrants from Central America.
Police caught up with the truck near the town of Agua Dulce in southeast Mexico. The town's police chief says the smugglers then opened fire on officers, starting a shootout and car chase. The chase ended when the truck lost control and crashed into a ditch.

Mexicans are racist against their southern neighbors....
This is very common in Mexico. Being blunt, there is little love between Mexicans and Guatamalans (”Tecas”) or those of usually darker skin color south of Mexico’s southern border. Of course, Mexico does believe it is entitled to “migrate to follow jobs” without hindrance through its northern border. The drain of labor from the poorer southern portions of Mexico has caused those from Central America to migrate to work in these parts of Mexico, as the wages are higher than back home. That said, I suspect that most of those involved in the truck chase/shooting were headed to the US. Mexico is described as “the pit” that must be crossed through, given the sometimes murderous treatment at the hands of Mexican authorities.
I’m certain that there will be a trial in Mexico; the mexican police officers will be found guilty for infringing on the “undocumented workers’s rights” and sent to jail for 11-12 years.
