CAIRO, Egypt - Al-Qaida confirmed Sunday the death of a top commander accused of training the suicide bombers who killed 17 American sailors on the USS Cole eight years ago.

Abu Khabab al-Masri, who had a $5 million bounty on his head from the United States, is believed to have been killed in an airstrike apparently launched by the U.S. in Pakistan last week.

I would like to hear from a relative of one of those who died if news like this does anything to bring closure to their experience. I know everyone reacts differently to a situation, but I would like to think the people who pulled this off, God bless and protect them, know their bravery and devotion to duty has given the families of fellow warriors some help in their loss.

Al Qaida is confirming our kills for us? Now that would be a good way for them to take some key personnel off the US’s target list, well, if we chose to believe them.

I hope there is/will be confirmation from other sources.
