“During his senate testimony, Fischer said an investigation of the FLDS would likely reveal ‘’men who can provide economically for all their families but choose not to do so with the convenience of nonrecorded ‘spiritual wives’ and children versus ‘legal wives’ and their children.’’ “
Hypocrite alert.
It seems to me the other way around, they want to destroy him because he’s helping the innocent young men who are pushed out of the sect so the dirty old men can have their fair share of 13 year old “wives.”
Enlightening read. Although it's not the book's main focus, it's got some pretty interesting things to say regarding Jessup and his crowd.
FLDS may be right about this man - but even that doesn’t mean he’s wrong about them.
And you have to take into consideration that FLDS has a reason to lie. A man leaves the cult, tries to help teenagers who have been booted out of it, and aids lawsuits against the group - which turns around and denounces him as abusive. There are two sides to this - and we have yet to hear from an objective party.
Why didn’t the wives he left behind file domestic abuse or child abuse charges against him, back when this happened?
You wanted to be pinged.

Isn’t it amazing that some of these people have kept silent for 35 years. Only now, after the doctor testified at the senate hearing, have they come forth.
I’d sure like to hear their spin about the time Warren Jeffs twisted Annette’s braid until he was ripping out her hair in front of a group of boys, telling them their wives had to be that obedient.
Why would we expect a cult who marries off young girls and lies about it to all of a sudden become a paragon of virtue and be telling the truth about this guy?
Haven’t they (just like another polygamous cult we all know and hate) been told that it’s OK to lie to *outsiders*; those they consider the *infidels* or *unbelievers*?
So why should we trust them now?
Come now, Saundra. You are such a defender of truth and justice. I’m surprised that you haven’t called for a clear airing of all of the facts and reminded us all that the man is innocent until proven guilty.
You have asked all of us to do the same regarding the FLDS and abuse claims.
Doesn’t Fisher deserve the same type of respect?
I have to admit, Saundra....
I’m jealous of the energy level you can maintain to be so hysterical all the time. What I couldn’t get done around the house with that kind of energy.
One of Fischer's ex-wives, some of his children, and family friends wrote affidavits that were sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee claiming Fischer was abusive. The affidavits were submitted Thursday by Rod Parker, a Salt Lake attorney acting as a spokesman for the FLDS Church. They were included in a packet outlining the church's clarified policy on marriage and a letter from Parker chastising the committee for not soliciting FLDS testimony.
However, they may be too late to be included in the printed hearing record. That deadline was Wednesday, according to Erica Chabot, a spokeswoman for the Senate Judiciary Committee.
I wonder why they'd submit the affidavits AFTER the deadline. Could it be that the don't want them to be included in the hearing record? Could it be just another flds publicity stunt?
