UPDATE! Just spoke to Rep. Thaddeus McCotter’s office. The GOP has left the floor. The staffer wasn’t sure if they were kicked out, or left of their own accord. So hold the doughnuts.
The switchboard initially told me that Pelosi, et al, had left for recess. I got through when I called back. They are there til 5pm. But remember to call their home offices while they are on recess.
Which raises the question ... is this a recess? If so, then let’s see some recess appointments. But I thought Reid & Pelosi were playing parliamentary games to keep the session open. If so, then these Reps should be able to leverage that. I also recall something about the House and Senate having to sync their recess lets they allow for Article II Section 3 action by the President to set their adjournment to a time he deems proper.
