They are trying, as they have stated, to get enough public reaction and focus to call the House BACK into session. Pelosi will not do this on a vote because right now she has the votes. These guys are trying to do something to attract enough attention to get the public so upset that the pressure is put on the DEM reps so they force Pelosi's hand on this for the fear of their political lives.

And THAT is exactly what it is going to take.

So I say BRAVO for these reps making a play like this to garner attention and get the people to contact and put pressure on their reps.

We will be feeding back an interview shortly from the Hill with Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) about the mock session Republicans have drummed up.

In the interview, I ask Pence if he would kindly escort our Fox camera onto the floor to witness this. He said there are rules prohibiting private video or photographs from the floor and was unwilling to do so. He also said Republicans would stay on the floor until Democrats require them to leave.

It makes us look pretty pathetic to be trying to make this into a point of contention.

We have a system in place to allow representatives to vote on popular issues. When the House leader goes to extreme lengths to disallow votes, effectively terminating the whole point of a democratic republic, cooperation has broken down to the point where alternative means must be pursued. If an insistence on having an otherwise normal vote (in place of mere mundane recess) doesn't work, the next steps get really ugly really fast.
