I cannot believe anyone in the State Department is still calling islam a religion. Islam is a culture. And history doesn't lie about the results of islamic cultures. The only time they have been peaceful is when everyone who opposed their culture was dead, enslaved or intimidated into remaining invisible.

Or when they were pounded into the ground decisively. The battle of Vienna and Lepanto come to mind.
