“None Dare Call It Education” was published 10 years ago, and it was very scary reading then. Imagine what an update would be like.

Perhaps we parents are supplying the school system with supplies for all - communal property to be used by those who supply and those who do not (aka Communism/Marxism)?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Marxism is our nation’s most serious threat,..and...Government schools are teaching our children to become Communists.

We will lose freedom in the ballot box if the government schools and colleges and universities succeed in indoctrinating the next generation of voters. They are hard at work doing that.

It may not be that sinister. It is probably just punishement meted out by the NEA and their state sub-unions to aggravate the parents for not giving them even more money.

This allows the schools to cry poverty so even more money can be thrown down ratholes by hiring more Education Professionals, such as more vice-principals and administrators and other nonproductive overhead.

No need to concern ourselves with pesky details such as the Mayflower, the Pilgrims, Plymouth Rock and the failure of communal existence when we can be researching the history of popcorn. ( from the article)

And...There will be no discussion of the religious faith that was the motivation for the Pilgrims to come to the New World. There will also be no discussion of the fact that the Pilgrims living in Holland were losing their children to Dutch culture.

If you do not want to be contacted **please** let me know, and I will remove your name.

I have included your name on the list because, in the past, you have posted to me about education issues. I surely don’t wish to bother you, but I don’t want you to miss these education articles, either.

I will call this ping list:

“The All Opinions Welcome Government Education Ping List” !

Government Education Ping List

For those who are interested in a full and open discussion about government education.

D'oh. Of course we are. Many of us have figured out the crayons (brand name only) pencil cases, tissues, hand sanitizer, etc we are required to send to school- are put into a communal pile and doled out to all, including those who "couldn't afford" to contribute anything toward their free public education (including a $.50 box of crayons, brand name only please). My kid's school hall is already lined with spanking new backpacks filled with school supplies, all donated, for kids who will arrive wearing the latest designer sneakers. But God forbid I should send cupcakes!

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

I completely agree with the main thesis of her essay, but she has a huge historical error in the ending. Capt. John Smith did not correct the Pilgrims failed communal economic system! Smith’s venture in Virginia was almost a whole decade prior to the Pilgrim’s landing. Furthermore, The Common Storehouse idea was never the Pilgrim’s desire in the first place but was imposed upon them by the “adventurers” who financed the venture to the New World. After it was clear the idea was a failure to the economic prosperity of the colony, the pilgrims were successful in changing the rule by petition to the Governor and his council. For all the details see, PURITAN ECONOMIC EXPERIMENTS by Dr. Gary North.

Our first experience with this was when we had our children in Catholic school. I was really ticked about it, especially since it smacked of a “communal’ technique. The fix was really quite easy...I put the names of my children on the supplies that we brought.

Surprisingly, in the public school that we are at currently, the teachers encourage writing names on the supplies.

Always consider the Frankfurt School-Columbia-NEA web when talking about public (government) schools.

And grab a copy of The American Citizens handbook (pre-1961) before they're gone, so you can see what the NEA used to promote (i.e. patriotism, morality).

I'm still wondering why our parents have to SUPPLY SCHOOL SUPPLIES instead of the school? Isn't that what the local property taxes go towards -- the schools?

Of course, my school will be at home. :-)
